mrv3000: (disneyland - tea?)

How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.

This is a strange thing to think about, but in these Sayers books I'm reading, everyone drinks coffee/tea/booze by the gallon, but no one ever has to pee. Instead they do things like go out in a boat for hours without getting out. Maybe bladders were bigger back then...

(Also, the title of my post is my all-time favorite quote from any of those books. :D)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good point.

Now I'm wondering about all sorts of scenes, like when Harriet visits Reggie Pomfret in college and no doubt ends up drinking a lot to make him more endurable. Where would she pee? Down the hall? Or run back to Shrewsbury with a bursting bladder?

But the endless punting trip really boggles the mind.

Or when Harriet and Peter go for a long drive and wrestle around in a field. Maybe a bush? I can't help thinking like that! :D

Hahaha! Also, that is one of my favorite lines too.

I actually tagged the book, just so I could find it back again. :D

It's in Gaudy Night, right? :D

Yup! When they're out in the boat. :D

Have you ever read The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde? I'm pretty sure this comes up as a topic of conversation, at one point, with the characters from Jane Eyre.

AHAHAHA. I think there's an unspoken agreement about not mentioning Bathroom Thingz in such fiction? And that is a marvelous quote.

Your LJ is SO PRETTEH. Which may be super late, but I feel like I haven't seen this layout yet *_*

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

"My lord, I'm afraid it's once again time..."

"What, so soon? Well, if I must."

Also, I've decided that Bunter and Peter could totally sing this:

... I read that like, three days ago. What is wrong with my brain?

Omg I need a Bunter. XD

And lol YES. YES THEY COULD. Their bromance totally makes me happy in a way other bromances just don't.

You and me both.

And lol YES. YES THEY COULD. Their bromance totally makes me happy in a way other bromances just don't.

Still SO amused that Bunter went on the honeymoon with them. XD

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
OF COURSE HE DID. HOW WOULD PETER COPE WITHOUT HIM?

Also, he (Bunter) seemed to pretty much view it as Lord-Peter-and-Bunter's honeymoon. XD

I cracked up at his letter to his mother. "Well, Mother, we were happily married this morning..." Oh were we? XD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
