Surprise! You've committed genocide!

I'm amused at the sneak-attack genocide plots in DW. And very amused at the reactions by different incarnations.

Alien: KILL ALL HUMANS!

Doctor: *stops them*

Alien: HA! LAST OF OUR KIND! YOU JUST COMMITTED GENOCIDE! AGAIN!

Nine: *sulks*
Ten: *sobs and plays Snow Patrol*
Eleven: *skips off*

I suppose if one wanted to be srs about it (not that I'm advocating that), it actually makes sense that Eleven deals with it better. He's the one who can benefit from the learnings of The End of Time -- yes, the Time Lords really were that evil and really did need genociding. So he's got some closure on the Time War, and when other races make the mistake of valuing themselves at the expense of others and end up doomed as a result, he can shrug and move on.

As much as I love Ten, so damn true! LOL!

LOL Eleven has a serious lack of angst. I don't really know how I feel about it tbh.

Lol, first of all.
Second of all, I think all of Ten's hang-ups like that were what made him startlingly human.
Eleven doesn't have that, so he seems more alien. And someone said closure on the whole event, and I agree so that lessens his feeling guilty.
And while it was right in a way to have him get over that (sometimes crippling) guilt, it leaves us with an Eleven who is rather alien in manner. It's interesting. Still not sure what to make of it quite yet... He seems even more humanly interactive challenged than Nine and Ten.

I like to think he's still feeling lots of stuff he just doesn't like talking about it. He puts on a good face because this is supposed to be Amy's fairytale rather than the human adventure stories of RTD's era where things were tough and messy. Because if that's not still there, whether or not we're seeing it, he's just not my Doctor anymore, and I don't want to accept that.

But it is a pretty big shift of text even if I can pretend it's there in the subtext.

Suddenly all of New Who makes perfect sense to me.
