I love the rory gif. That's what the doctor needs. An occasional punch to the head!!!
I LOVE that of her. It really should be gifed! That and the one of her doing the bones of the hand, although that wasn't directed at the Doctor. :D
Ten got smacked in the face too but it wasn't by any of his friends.

I'm sure it started because of Amy, but by the end I'd say he's a friend.
I think I'm going to enjoy series 6 a whole lot more with Rory there all the time. It's what the series needed. Amy just isn't enough of a counter-weight for the Doctor. Rory adds a whole new dimension...
About Martha: was she making fun of John Smith or of Joan in this picture?

I agree. I enjoy the Doctor-Companion dynamic the most when the companion is a grounding force in some way.
While I like Romana (I more than II), I wasn't really wild about her time in the TARDIS. She was basically a duplicate of the Doctor and I much prefer to see a contrast. (It sort of makes me worried about if River ever becomes sole companion. It strikes me as it becoming pretty much the same thing.)

My absolute favorite pairing was Four and Leela.
The Doctor: silly by brilliant and always looking for a good way out of things.
Leela: Whose first thought was always, "Do you want me to stick a knife in them?"
Then add K-9 and it was almost like the three stooges!

Martha is great that whole two-parter. She basically deserves awards for not letting John Smith walk off a cliff.
I was actually hoping she would.

I think it's when John has fallen from the stairs and martha enters in John's room without knocking and Joan (who's tending John) tells her it's rude to enter without knocking XD
