josephides and I were talking (when are we not?) about Lost City I. We have differing opinions. *g*
Anyway, *loosely* related to that discussion, I decided to break down a certain scene complete with pictures. I'm bored.
This proves that I am a complete and utter hopeless shipper. Dialogue? They were speaking in that scene? I was too focused on body language and happily projecting subtext! ;)

Ah, the house scene. Yeah, I'm probably reading *way* too much into this, but I don't care! *g*

Wow. Talk about instant friction! Tell me this is how Jack would have greeted Daniel or Teal'c at the door.

Sam, clearly uncomfortable, tries to come up with a good excuse as to why she's there. You know *something's* on her mind, but for some reason she can't say it. Hmmm. Sam has always been the cautious one and years of pushing it down have not helped any.

Jack is not an idiot. He knows what's going on but clearly doesn't want to go there. She was off-limits before but now with a boyfriend, she's *really* off-limits.

Sam attempts to reach Jack on a personal level by talking about his ex.

Jack shuts her down. Getting on a personal level with Sam is dangerous.

Sam struggles with exactly what to say to him. The non-verbal communication they once had seems to be on the fritz.

Jack refuses to play that non-verbal game with her.

Sam struggles again, trying to make him understand without actually putting herself out there and taking that risk of telling him how she really feels.

"What?" Jack is not letting Sam get away with anything vague here. If she has something to tell him, she needs to come out and say it. Deep, longing looks will no longer be good enough between them. Relationship-wise, this seems like a painful but healthy turn.

Sam can't do it. She can't take the risk of saying what's on her mind. Maybe he's not such a safe bet after all. Instead she comes up with something lame - "I should have done it." It's really a silly thing to say and they both know it.

Sam's wearing him down. Jack can't help himself - he softens as he talks about her being a national treasure.

But the walls are quickly put back up.

Sam's shut out again. She just can't say what needs to be said.

Only a few simple words from Sam would break down that wall. Jack will never go there as long as she is with another man. It'll be up to her now.

Damn you, Danny!! Hee!
