Made it to Friday.

Thunderstorm! Wow - that's really unusual for around here. I wanna say that we can go a whole year without having a single thunderstorm. Don't know if that's true, but it seems like it.

I have this song in my head. So what do I do? I share the pain so it will be in YOUR head too.

It's Friday! *yaaaaaaaawn* I mean, I'm up!

New SG on tonight! And some sort of big sporting thing is apparently starting. Don't the Olympics usually happen earlier in the summer? No?

Congratulations. I did not have to click on the link, but merely had to look at the name of the file, to get the song running through my head.

Complete with visuals. Of GREAT BIG MUPPETS.

You are a thing of evil and joy forever.

For you, my dear.

I think you'll have to click the play button to get it to play. Tell me if this works?

Don't the Olympics usually happen earlier in the summer? No?

In recent history, many of the Summer Games have started in mid-July. This is true for the '76 Montreal, '80 Moscow, and the '96 Atlanta games. The '84 LA and '92 Barcelona games started in late July. OTOH, the '88 Seoul and 2000 Sydney games both ran from mid-September through early October.

It all depends on location. Athens is simply too hot in July for the Olympics, and that's likely why they are starting it in August. In fact, many athletes much preferred the later start date as the cooler temperatures allowed them to get better performances - a reason why Sydney 2000 had so many track and field records set. However, the US television networks don't like them starting late as it interferes with the new TV seasons, which you obviously can't have!! So August is typically about as late as it goes, unless the games are in the Southern Hemisphere in which case they have to be later to be warm enough.

That help? :)

That help? :)

Ha! I think that sufficiently answers all my Olympics start-date question needs! You *are* the Robopedia! :D

Shows how much I pay attention - I didn't even remember that the Sydney games were really late. I'll usually catch some of the opening and closing ceremony and maybe a diving or gymnastics competition, but that's about it. Although I remember being interested in the White Water Rafting competition - that *was* a real thing, right? I didn't imagine it...or was drunk? Maybe I'm thinking of the X Games which is *so* close to the Olympics.

Didn't click on the link. Merely looked at the file name. Now have that song running through my head.

Maybe if I play my mp3 of it it'll go away?

BWAH! Isn't it sad that if you know the song, you only have to look at the name to have it run over and over and over and over in your head? *g*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2004-08-13 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Let's see if you say that 3 days from now when it's still in your head! *G*
