Just remember, Disney World is not 50 years old, kids.
You all don't care, I know you don't. But it's amusing to me. And maybe to
diavestra.
Today people on the Disney boards have their panties in a bunch. Apparently there is a new advertisement out for Disney World (Florida) that shows Walt Disney giving an opening dedication - the film is in black and white and so you think, "How special! Disney World is so historical and magical!" However, the only magic here is that of technology since it never actually happened. Walt died before Disney World opened its doors.
Disneyland (California) fanatics have been cranky about other Disney parks stealing California's 50th anniversary thunder. Other parks got new rides, heavy promotional campaigns and Disneyland got...Space Mountain reopened. Plus the big celebration event was moved from July 17 to May 5. (Even though idiots like me showed up on July 17.) Like someone put it somewhere, imagine for your birthday you're told that not only are they changing the date of your special day, but also everyone but you gets the presents.
Disneyland (California) fen already feel like the Disney company treats that park like the bastard step-child (even before the 50th deal), and so erasing out the Sleeping Beauty castle (California) in Walt Disney's speech from 1955 and photoshopping in Cinderella's castle (Florida) was yet another insult. And the Disney World (Florida) fen feel threatened because of...the first group feeling threatened...

Not *terribly* wanky. Yet. Again, I'm pretty sure only I'm amused by this. But some things never change no matter what fandom it is.
