I seem to be on a Five kick at the moment.

Watchers of the old Who eps – do you find that occasionally you can't for the life of you remember which incarnation of the Doctor it was that was in the episode? It's certainly not for all episodes, but for a few I can remember the Companions even, but the Doctor is just this sort of Doctor-shaped blur. :D Only has seemed to happen so far with Four, Five or Six. Eh, it's probably just me since I've been watching these all in such a short period of time. Anyway...

Black Orchid (Five, Tegan, Nyssa, Adric)
  • The Doctor mentions that as a boy he always wanted to drive a train. Which is CUTE, and I'm not even going to ponder if he wanted to drive an Earth train or if they had trains on Gallifrey.

  • A case of mistaken identity and the Doctor winds up in a cricket game, and it looks like he's having the time of his life. Hee!

  • I LOVE the 20s. Everyone drank like fishes.

  • HA! The Doctor gets locked into a secret passage, wearing his bathrobe. (Um, the Doctor, not the secret passage.) Love it. :D (And I'm sure the Peter Davison fangirls of the day were all a twitter at the exposed inches of chest. *G*)

  • Nyssa doppelganger, which was cute, but strange. Reminded me of the Romana twin in that one Key to Time ep.

  • Oh, I loved this episode (even with the "tidy" ending.) The period, the mystery, the jokes... So much fun! And while I wouldn't have minded seeing more in this world, I'm glad it was only a 2-parter. More of these old episodes really should have been 2-parters instead of 4. But I'd watch this one again. I'm a sucker for seeing the TARDIS crew having fun!

Resurrection of the Daleks (Five, Tegan, Turlough)
  • OMG, I had so much "huh???" in this episode. My list is huge. Like – who were the guys who were escaping at the beginning? Was that one guy always a Dalek agent? Why exactly London 1984? Wouldn't an uninhabited planet have been WAY better to store the cannisters on? Why did that one person start dissolving in Davros' chamber - when did gas get released there? And why didn't that other person start dissolving as well? Why would Tegan wear that? Why did the Daleks suddenly throw in wanting the Doctor to kill the Time Lord High Council? If a person was duplicated while *not* wearing his gun, why would his gun then show up? What the hell is a Time Corridor? How exactly does a Time Corridor fit into God's plan for us...? Oh wait, channeling BSG there. But this is just the stuff I can remember from last night.

  • Poor Tegan. She finally snapped and left. And poor Doctor yelling after her, "don't leave like this!" It was just such a negative way to end for her. I was kinda surprised at her line "when it stops being fun..." since it seems like she usually wasn't having fun. Boy, she really didn't have all that great of time overall while on Team TARDIS. She wanders in accidentally while her aunt is killed by the Master. She often wants to go home, but the Doctor keeps messing up. (Although to be fair, at times she seems to want to stay.) She goes through Adric getting killed. And at the end, she finally cracks when surrounded by Dalek carnage. I really do feel bad for her. Really. And don't blame her for jumping ship – 1984 London had to be close to when she left. Not sure of the exact date of when she came on board. But I'm sure the Doctor would have loved nothing better than to finally deliver her to the airport and given her a hug with, "See? Always said I'd get you there." :(

  • Davros is really dead this time, right?

Hmm. Think I'm headed to the Black Guardian Trilogy next.
