PotC3

I'm really glad I didn't spoil myself for this.

Yup, that was fun. Just a lot of popcorn fun. I even had popcorn. The opening scene was effective - you could have heard a pin drop in the full theater. And it set the mood for the darker tone of this one.

Will becoming the next Davey Jones? Did not see that coming at all. Even with the impromptu wedding. I'm telling you, my brain switches off with this series where it's basically limited to "Ha! Pirates!" Well, that and managing to get a bit sniffly at Will and Elizabeth having to go for 10 year stints without seeing each other. I stayed past the credits since I know they slap things on at the end. Hello, Will and Elizabeth's 10-year-old son.

One of my favorite parts was after they fell over the giant waterfall into darkness - the voices in the darkness? That was the actual audio track from the Pirates *RIDE* there. HEEE! Funny thing is, all that stuff is said in the dark tunnel on the ride, past where you go down the waterfall. MWAH. It's so dorkily cool.

I think my other favorite part was the wedding. It wasn't the wedding *from* hell, it was basically a wedding *in* hell. Which was fitting considering what Will would become later on. But it was so completely over the top - it was great!

Why did Norrington look so different? Was it just me? It might have been. I mean, even comparing him to the first movie when he was cleaned up, he just didn't look the same to me. When he was wandering around during the first part, I thought it was just some random soldier dude. And then when he recognized Elizabeth when she was Captain of the ship, I was thinking, "Hmm. They obviously know each other from somewhere. Probably old friend of her father's or something." When he was saying "our paths are different" and kissed her, my mind was all, "and you are...?" It wasn't until he was dying and they said his name that my mind clicked in with a, "Holy shit! That's Norrington!"

I TELL YOU, MY BRAIN GOES BYE-BYE DURING POTC MOVIES.

ETA: Oh! Another great moment - when the Pearl comes sailing over the sand dune. VERY cool. Killer special effects in this movie.
