First off, we apparently now know that the Mary Sue gene can be found in Luke. I see great things in Luke & Lorelai's spawn's future. Astronaut-type things.

Next, Paris and Doyle are hands-down funniest couple ever! I demand more Paris and Doyle!

But moving on. The "conflicts" Luke and Lorelai have had over the last two years have been cheesy. There, I said it. More than that, forced cheesy. Like taking a hunk of cheddar and forcing it though...something. You get the idea. I can't remember what the fake fight of 2004/2005 was all about...something about Christopher. But it was forced conflict. Like this whole April thing. I just do not get how Luke wouldn't tell Lorelai, of all people, about his daughter. It makes *no* sense whatsoever other than that TV is "boring" without "conflicts."

But it's canon. Whatever. Lalala. Lorelai was cute with her dress.

Well, lets face it, it's Dwama, not sci-fi, so it doesn't surprise me to see all the tired old cliches pass by. They're just dipped in a slightly different sauce, and I like the sauce ;-)

I just saw the second to last ep of season 5 here on tv, so we're a bit behind, but it sounds like they're doing the "one season they blow up cos she didn't tell him something major, next season they blow up cos he didn't tell her something major. yeah, that'll create some nice angst".
Too bad they haven't figured out yet that Luke & Lorelai SHOULD NOT DO ANGST, dammit!
They're supposed to be fun and cute and quirky and just plain HAPPY, cos they both deserve it. And cute quirky happy Luke & Lorelai has never =ever= bored me!

But what do I know, eh? *shrugs*

And I'm =sooooo= with you on the Paris/Doyle thing *chuckles*

Now i have to wait for a d/l.....the trailer looked so dramatic.

I agree with you, these "fights" are so stupid. And yes, there is no reason why Luke wouldn't have told Lorelai about the kid. *sigh* I expect better of Amy!

I had a feeling it would be annoying (and cheesy), so I didn't watch. :(

I like to assume the network makes ASP do this stuff, but who knows.

Yeah, I'm so annoyed by Luke not telling Lorelei, and it's so pathetic. The whole first few years of the show was building up this 'ship, and now that they're together, they are not themselves.

I think that might be the problem that the writers suffer from. They *think* they need some kind of made up conflict to make things interesting. But it's not like they can't do real conflict - over the years the dynamic between Lorelai and her parents has been brilliant at times. They're just missing the mark for me with some of the Luke/Lorelai stuff.

josephides made it for me! Not sure how she did it all. Whenever I want something new on my sidebar, I whine at her until she comes up with something pretty. :D

And see, the things I thought there could be some natural conflict over never materialized, like Luke buying that house on his own. I was sure that it would have been part of a Lorelai freakout that Luke had this whole life planned for her that she wasn't in on. She'd have flashbacks to her mother controlling her life, etc.

Well, the parts with Sookie and Lorelai doing wedding planning kind of made up for some other stuff - that was so cute!

And Paris and Doyle too - so frickin' funny! :D

But next week supposedly the whole April thing is going to be revealed to Lorelai so major dwama.

(Also, Lorelai's dress looks *okay* on her. I didn't think it was the perfect thing they all thought it was. I think it was the bottom I didn't like. Maybe Paul Anka will eat it. :D )

Yeah, I'm disappointed. At the beginning of this season, it was looking like they were finally getting back to their old selves. It was really clicking again for me after the weirdness of S5. But then the introduction of April and their characters went weird again. :(

Ha! I hated the top of the dress. Wtf was going on up there with the flowers (?) and other foofy stuff? And then there were the sequins in her veil. O.M.F.G. And while I don't normally have a problem with non-white wedding dresses, I hated the peachy color on Lorelai. Just didn't go well with her skin tone, or something.

Paris was in tiptop form last night. :) Her with Logan? "Unless you're going to spin some plates in that position, stop it because I'm talking to you!" Bwah!

Am still in denial over the whole mini!Rory storyline. Lalalala.

And yeah, the writers should stick with the Lorelai vs Emily (mostly) conflict, cos that stuff has been brilliant most of the time.
With Luke & Lorelai, the conflict seems so contrived. I mean, the whole Christopher thing at the vow renewal ceremony? He was =drunk= FCOL! The Luke I know and adore would've told Christopher to stuff it, and would've dealt with Lorelai later about the whole not telling him stuff. But never made that huge a deal out of it..

And the whole "Luke buys a house for Lorelai without consulting her"? That should've made Lorelai throw a humongous hissy fit and run for the hills..

I think that about sums it up for me as well. I watch the weirdness with kind of a glazed look, my mind probably off making a grocery list. But still love the two of them and the show!

I'm debating if I want to poke her to make a Doctor Who sidebar. Of course, there is a new Lost on tonight (finally) and so I'll probably be all into that show again after that. I'm so easily distracted. :D

global fandom is fantastic, and because our free to air networks over here suck (ie we currently have season 4 gilmore girls airingand havent had stargate in over a year!)i adore global fandoming...

New LOST! oh oh oh....hopefully that is one show we will get back on as soon as rating season starts again (3 more weeks........)
