I went to Disneyland today.

This year's theme is "celebration," and so the lamp arrangements are upside down party hats. The entrance Mickey was also colorful. I meant to take a picture later, but forgot.

My plan was to do as much as I could, which meant Space Mountain first off! At this point not many people were wearing rain ponchos yet. I was, of course, because I am COOL. It seemed like a good day to go to Disneyland - it was raining so not a lot of people around. The plan was to blaze through the whole park, and nothing could possibly put a damper on that, right?
I didn't count on the fact that the allergy pill I'd taken had made me really susceptible to dizziness. BLERG. And I had to pick SPACE MOUNTAIN first. Double BLERG.

I found shelter and a bottle of water. (Still blerg.) You can't see it from the picture (even on the bigger original size) but it's pouring rain there.

I escaped to the castle where they now have the upstairs open to walk through again. It recently opened after being closed for about 8 years. Inside are dioramas with slight animation. You walk through it - it's not a ride.

Oooooh, wand trails.

They've designed it rather well - the windows look like castle windows instead of just box windows. I kind of remember them being box windows before, but don't quote me on that.

Still inside the castle, walking down. And the castle is leaking. Drip drip drip...

Look out! It's a dude in tights stealing three British children!

Disney nudity! Or the Peter Pan mermaids. (I only could get this shot because the car had stopped.)

In the debate that rages between which is better - Disneyland or Disney World - I've got 2 words for you: Mr. Toad. Pthththththt!

Semper Absurda and Toadi Acceleratio. HEH!

If I ever make it to London, I will fully expect the experience to be like this ride. Which is a bit daunting considering you wind up in hell. (Hopefully the experience won't be with nausea, which I was still having and which isn't fun in the hot sauna of the underworld.)

If I'd realized how blurry this pic was, I'd have taken it again. That is a stained glass toad lamp sitting on the Mr. Toad ride control panel, and is quite possibly one of the most awesome things I've ever seen in the park.

I thought about riding the carousel after Toad, but...those things go round and round. Ick. So I went to the Tiki Room.

And proceeded...

to take...

pictures of...

everything...

in the...

waiting area.

I was sort of hungry and so had something fairly bland and then hopped on the train. Still wet with patchy sun.

From the train looking down on the inside of the Splash Mountain ride. It's a shame I didn't go on it since I had the poncho and everything.

What's that down in the bushes? A moose? Egads!

Small World was closed so they could take down the Christmas stuff, but THAT IS A BEAR, GODDAMIT.

This thing cracked me up. It was HUGE. It's the kind of thing you don't want to meet in a dark alley.

And finally I splurged and got myself this big tea pack. "Wonderland Tea" with 12 different kinds of tea. It's good too - I'm drinking the "Mad Tea Party Blend" right now (a black apricot tea) and it's quite yummy.
So anyway, I finally left the park around 1 p.m., giving up on feeling decent. (When Mr. Toad gets to you, you may as well give up and pack it in.) I'm still glad I went though. :)
