Well. S6 was my least favorite series. For some reason they decided to go with one basic overarching story. It was all about Iran and America and Iran getting nuclear capabilities. Every story related to this, and they even dealt with things outside the UK. (I thought MI-6 handled that. Where were they during all this?) I much prefer their original format of different stories and different kinds of threats each episode. Yeah, stuff would carry over from week to week back then, but it was really secondary stuff as opposed to the main plot like in this series.

The whole Zaf thing was strange. It kept making me wonder if they weren't sure if the actor was going to leave the show or not. Or something. He disappears at the beginning of the series and you don't find out until the end that he's actually dead. In the U.S. that would have been a classic ploy to use during an actor salary negotiation. :D

It's a shame about Jo. I completely understand her wanting Adam to kill her. She was scared out of her mind, but the reasons she gave him were valid. She knew she'd give up information quickly under torture. Just too bad they didn't wait another 15 minutes or so. Bad timing there. Of course, now Adam will probably be even MORE emo. Seems like all the women around him get completely scorched in one way or another.

Ros! I grew to appreciate Ros. Now I know what people meant by "strong." Although I'd probably use a different word. Something like ruthless or...not sure really. Ice in her veins. There was one episode where she was tortured for a while and then hooked up to a lie detector. The needle barely moved (if at all) whenever she told a lie. And when the interrogator was suddenly shot from behind Ros, the needle barely gave a wiggle. The shooter was looking at the paper in a "holy shit" kind of way. It's too bad she got suckered into this whole fringe group though, and she had to go packing. (I think I'd have liked to have seen Tom and Ros interact for some reason.)

Adam. Oy. I really liked his character in the beginning. He was almost a Ros-type character originally. Colder, more ruthless. But then they started chipping away at him. I guess it's a character study and all - PTSD, losing people, and so on. It's slowly wearing him down. I'd still like it to shift away from everything relating to Adam though. There are other characters.

So on to S7 with RA! WOO!!

I finally watched all of the Campion series about an eccentric 1930s detective. It was all pretty entertaining, and he played the character very much like how he played the Doctor. (Not sure if that was intentional, or if his acting range isn't very broad.) But still very entertaining. I ended up watching them in the wrong order though. I think the release dates didn't coincide with the order of the books or something. Or maybe I just was looking at a bad list. In the first episode I watched, he mentions being unlucky in love, but I saw evidence of that in episodes I watched later.

For the most part I really liked his character. There were only a couple of things that put me off a bit. One was when he was pretty much a prick to this woman. Long story, but this woman mentions she used to like him but he's gotten too cold. So he grabs her and kisses her. It wasn't romantic - it was very dickish. And then in another story he becomes completely infatuated with a married woman. I guess it was supposed to be a sympathetic tragic lovers kind of thing, but I was squicking out about it.

However, I could have done with more stories with Amanda. (Apparently he winds up marrying her in the books.) Her character was one that could have been done horribly - it's the kind of character that could easily cross over into "annoying." But she didn't. Where he was eccentric, she was more eccentric. Also, she was the only woman who didn't seem to care a lick about him in a romantic way. At the end of the episode she makes him promise to take him on as a partner when she gets to 21. Probably foreshadowing for the marriage, but at that moment I could believe that she really just wanted to run around sleuthing with him. He did seem smitten with her though, and was just about the only person that could talk around him. In other words, exactly what he needs. Yeah, I could have watched several more stories with them making a sleuthing team.

Overall, very worth watching.
