Note: I haven't seen the second half of this yet since it's on the next DVD. *mutters at the people who decided that*

Okay, first off: Business!River >>>>>> Fabulous!River. That dressed to the nines "sweetie, darling" shtick does not impress. Of course I've never been a huge fan of the Fabulous Douchebag type (aka The Captain Jack Harkness type). Probably why I was very "meh" about Lady Catherine. (Whoops. I meant Lady Christina, right? I still can't care enough to figure out her name for certain.) However, when River gets down to business she really is fabulous. More of that please. Though I did laugh out loud at "the TARDIS isn't supposed to make that noise - you just leave the brake on." XD XD

The whole are they/aren't they married...seems fairly silly. Is there really anyone watching who's champing at the bit for this info? Or does Moffat just enjoy teasing asexualist fanboys? (Although we do now have 2 references to Ten having married QEI, so that canon ship has sailed.)

I do dig the whole ex-es and the kid dynamic between the Doctor, River and Amy. Very amusing. I like the Amelia dynamic between the Doctor and Amy. It's not something that's consistent yet, though. It's sweet when it happens, and sort of non-defined when it doesn't. I was discussing this with [livejournal.com profile] _thirty2flavors and she brought up something that I'm just starting to notice: that I kind of prefer it when there's a 3rd party with Eleven and Amy. So far I'm not terribly interested in Eleven and Amy's relationship.

Okay, enough character stuff (what I'm really interested in) and on to the plot. While it in no way scared me (man, in Blink I was jumping all the time!), I did find it interesting. The problem with re-using a scary enemy is that a lot of times it loses its scariness. Funnily enough it seemed like this episode was practically an homage to Aliens - a sequel that retained its scary.

I'm not as fussed about changing the M.O. of the Angels as I thought I'd be. There was a line in there about what they used to do and how time had passed, so I easily enough bought that they evolved. The original concept was freaky enough, though. (Living in the past sounds romantic enough, but the reality would be extremely harsh. 40% rate of dying in childbirth? Simple infections can kill? Infrequent bathing? NO TOILET PAPER? NO THANKS.) But overall I thought it interesting enough.

Final Note: the desert camo gave me fond memories of SG-1. I should think about re-watching that sometime. :D

The Last Final Note: The new theme song is growing on me (it reminds me of the old Space Mountain song. XD), but I still have to laugh at the electric vagina.
