Gah! This is bugging me.

Okay, so the Silence. So I think the Doctor said that they were leeches or parasites or something, but what did they actually do to make them that? They didn't seem to feed off humans in any way. Okay, there was the erasing people's memories so they wouldn't remember them. And then...manipulating humans to build a space suit? And that's why they went to the moon? That has me scratching my head though, because clearly they have technology far advanced than humans - why would they need humans to build things for them? (Couldn't they have used a deep sea suit?) Other than looking scary and creepy, they just seemed to sort of...hang out.

I'm not saying the Silence were fluffy bunnies or anything, but where was the menace beyond them creeping people out? And why did they hang around humans anyway?

Did I miss something? (Quite possible.)


ETA: OH! And another thing! (Things I think of when trying to fall asleep.)

I'm still kind of bugged by the Doctor's resolution to the Silence. Maybe he'd run into them before and knew this was the only solution? It'd be nice to have heard that though. Did these creatures have a society? Could there have been factions that wanted nothing to do with humans? Yeah, this is putting more into Monster of the Week than probably should be. But I was thinking about the Silurian ep last season where there were negotiations for who deserved the planet and so on...
