You know, so many things about tumblr puts me into FIERY RAGE. It's a horrible user interface, and even the browser extensions aren't user friendly.

Like Tumblr Savior. The supposed salvation of your dash, right? And you put words in and it filters them out, right? Okay, so not only does it NOT filter out those words, it filters out things that have absolutely no relation to the words I want filtered.

Like "AVENGERS". I love you all, but 80000 gifs of something I'm not interested in is TOO MUCH. XD Obviously I want to keep watching people for non-Avengers stuff, but IT'S NOT FILTERING IT OUT.

INSTEAD IT FILTERED OUT A PRETTY PICTURE OF JAPAN. I HAVE AVENGERS GIFS AND NO JAPAN. THIS DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER SINCE THERE WERE NO HIDDEN HULKS OR LOKIS IN THE PICTURE OR THE TAG.

SEE? RAGE. TUMBLR MAKES ME CAPSLOCK RAGE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SIMPLY WORK. OR WORK SIMPLY.

IT STIRS UP FEELINGS OF WHEN I USED TO BUILD MY OWN COMPUTERS. "FUCK YOU, WORK ALREADY OR I WILL SMASH THE CRAP OUT OF YOU."

I've broken up with tumblr, tbh. Especially since I've discovered that my main fandom there actually has a few people on LJ. *Shrugs*

I have no clue how Tumblr savior works. I haven't even downloaded it. I have noticed thought that there are problems with the tagging system -- when browsing the David Tennant tag I end up with posts that have nothing to do with him, but are included perhaps because of a gif.

Oh, and I don't bother looking at the Revenge tag anymore. It was a scary combination of the show Revenge (which was what I was actually looking for), angry people, and naked men. IDEK.

LOL that problem is user-based though, because some douche decided their post about their homework where they used a Ten gif was worthy of a "David Tennant" tag.

Heh, yes, and it doesn't help either that SO MANY of the people posting about David Tennant are also making comments like "He's old enough to be my dad!" *headdesk*

OH, and did I tell you about the time I found a post of someone bemoaning their love of middle-aged men -- and the tags were #benedict cumberbatch, #arthur darvill, and #matt smith. APPARENTLY I AM OLD.

I don't know why it's such a big thing tbh? I'm pretty sure when I was in high school girls liked Johnny Depp or whatever without any shame. I don't think David Tennant is THAT old, let alone Benedict Cumberbatch or Matt Smith who are even younger.

Tumblr is infested with 12-year-olds. It makes me feel very old. you should look up tennantscookiejar. They have a Tumblr retirement home for old geezers like us.

And I'll tell you a secret -- Arthur and Darvill and Matt Smith -- just a teensy bit younger than me. LOL. And how old is Cumberbatch? Maybe 35? IDK.

I think most of the people I follow on Tumblr are around my age, but we do seem to be the minority, and I think most of the people following me are under 20. There's this one girl I follow and have grown quite fond of though who's like 16 and occasionally she posts about, IDK, SATs or whatever and I'm like "whaaaat".

Yeah I'm not sure how old he is but I think he's about that? A BIT YOUNG FOR "MIDDLEAGED" at any rate.

Yeah, most of the people I follow are people I already know here on LJ, or like the official Doctor Who tumblr and things like that. But when I go through tags, I see a LOT of teenagers.

Well, if it isn't working properly, then that sucks, clearly! But if it is, then the people posting those Avengers pictures have to tag their entries properly for Savior to work. If they're just tagging their entries 'omg steve/tony are awesomesauce!' then you'll still get them if you only Savior out 'avengers'. The worst is when people don't tag their entries at all, then there's, like, literally nothing you can do except bear it, or block them. Bleah!

No, even posts that have simply "avengers" as a tag are there. THE UNIVERSE IS TRYING TO SPAM MY BRAIN WITH IT.

And I guess I'll bear it since I don't want to block them.

I seem to have good luck as I never run into any of the problems that others do with Savior or even Tumblr itself. But it is clearly NOT WORKING properly for a lot of people on a repeated basis. And that has to be aggravating.

Tumblr Saviour is pretty terrible, it's true. I'm pretty selective about who I follow precisely because I know Tumblr Saviour is useless and I don't want to hvae to wade through 369369 gifs I don't care about to get there. And it's USELESS for spoilers omg. When I was trying to avoid Game of Thrones stuff I typed every tag I could think of -- "game of thrones", "got", "asoiaf", "a song of ice and fire", etc. It took me ages to realize the reason so many posts got randomly blocked was because they had the word "got" in them, lol.

I've been fairly good, haven't I? No 50000 Sherlock gif sets. YET. XD

And I've decided that Saviour is completely useless.

you post less Sherlock than some other people, mostly because you post less. SHERLOCK HAUNTS ME ON TUMBLR OMG I GO OUT OF MY WAY TO HAVE AS LITTLE OF IT AS POSSIBLE because for some reason everyone who watches Doctor Who watches and loves Sherlock even when they hate Moffat.

I think I like it bc Gattiss cowrites and it already has established plotlines, so much like when RTD was showrunner, Moffat can't do tooooo much harm. (Looking at GitF and the end of Scandal in Belgravia though)
Ugh. I can't watch S6 without cringing bc he does stupid nonsensical plotlines and he can get away with it now that he's head writer.

I've seen all of Sherlock and to me it still seems largely quintessentially Moffat, although I will say that I think Moffat's... Moffatness lends itself to Sherlock better than to Doctor Who.So it surprises mei n that sense that so many people who don't' like his other work like Sherlock, because when I watch it I feel like I can see his fingerprints all over it.

But I mean, I don't particularly care that other people like Sherlock, except that on Tumblr it's virtually impossible to find someone who posts a lot of Doctor Who stuff (which I want) who doesn't also post a lot of Sherlock (which I have no interest in). And as this post mentions, Tumblr Saviour is pretty ineffective.

I can't deal with twitter, so I decided tumblr was not for me. If I know someone who puts up pretty pictures on their tumblr, I bookmark it and just check up regularly. :P

Ugh. Yes. Before I saw the Avengers or Sherlock or the 6 episodes of SPN I've seen, all that stuff on my dash was annoying bc I didn't know you could even attempt to filter it out.
I still get massive quantities of stuff I don't like, but I like the people I follow, so I can bear it.

I have no idea why tumblr savior isn't working for you, I've never had any problems with it (it filters out all the Wincest and Thorki will 100% accuracy as long as it is tagged for me), now I feel awful for having suggested/recommended it! Here's hoping you find an extension that works better for you, because we don't want Hulk levels of rage! *hugs*

I think I would blow a gasket myself if the things I was trying to block were still showing up on my dash! (It's annoying enough that I can't look at several of my tracked tags when I'm on a devise without savior, if I NEVER could? THERE WOULD BE YELLING.)

Are you using Tumblr Savior as a Greasemonkey script? One slip as your typing something into the script can stop the whole thing from working, also there are some preset whitelist/blacklist that you may need to edit out as well. I found that it was sometimes blocking things I didn't want (much the same as when naturally searching through the tags Tumblr throws things up that have no relation), so I just whitelisted the 'extra' things it seemed to be blocking the most.

If you're using Tumblr Savior through a different thing, than I have no idea, sorry! Stick with whitlelisting the usernames you know will never betray you with 'Avengers', don't add me to it though (although my obsession is dying down a little bit!) ;)

I was using it through Greasemonkey and BAH! I gave up on the whole thing and deleted it. I'm flouncy like that. XD

You know what's worse, though? When Tumblr Savior works, but people are bitching about other people spoiling them. *But* then 3 hours they post gif sets of episodes that got leaked. WITHOUT TAGGING THEM AS SPOILERS.

I have a Tumblr but only because of some Sherlock stuff over there abt the sets and the clothes.

Heck, we are so far behind in the Marvel universe of movies, that no I don't want to see Avengers stuff either. We just saw the first Iron Man movie last month.

I did order tee-shirts for the Prof and myself with some cute Avengers icons on them, though.

Honestly, though, I was a DC kid, and only got into Marvel comics in college. So when someone says "Avengers", I always think first of Steed and company. :)

I thought that first for a while too! :D
