Apparently on tumblr the Rose war rages on! Well, not that I've seen any actual warring, but people seem to be under the impression that it's still warring. And raging. See example:

I think the reason it's always 2007 on Tumblr is because there's this constant influx of new fans who are just introduced to Rose vs Martha RIGHT NOW. And Tumblr encourages that kind of idiocy instead of squashing it out the way LJ's separate comms would.

Also, because everyone is 14 and an idiot.

Sadly this isn't limited to Tumblr. Sansa/Sandor is known as SanSan and it is hugely popular pairing on lj too. The SanSan comm on lj is the largest pairing specific comm for ASOIAF.

I am actually pretty notorious for hating SanSan and I am pretty pleased about that. IT IS SKEEVY AS FUCK. WHY IT IS SO POPULAR? Like Sandor is one of the few people in King's Landing who isn't trying to hurt Sansa, but like... that doesn't mean he should be rewarded for meeting the most basic standard of being a decent human being by getting the girl. IDEK. UGH.

I don't think I'd have much problem if the person shipping realizes just how messed up the pairing is. I mean, lots of people ship something precisely because it's a bit icky. It's the woobification of the poor misunderstood man that gets me - no matter the pairing.

Tumblr really does manage to encourage both head-on aggression and passive-aggression in ways unparalleled by other social media tools. There is NO good way to complain about something one of your friends might be doing privately without it being really passive-aggressive because there's no filter.

But also through the tagging system it really encourages direct responses and fighting the way other things might not. Like I would never go into the lj of someone I know to hate Rose etc just to argue with them in their posts. But on Tumblr they might tag it "Rose Tyler" or "Billie Piper" and I'll see it and be like OH DO YOU WANNA TAKE THIS OUTSIDE?

What continues to astound me (apart from the sheer stupidity and wrong on Tumblr) is how Rose pops up in DW conversations that don't really involve her?

Like there was a secret about Ten on F!S a few days or so ago. In the comments, the Rose-trashing began. Like, it was SO important to those posters to make their point and bash Rose to do it. IDGI.

Lol you should know by now that some people find your existence bothersome, Michelle. And tumblr only facilitates EVERYONE INTERACTING WITH EACH OTHER.

I've long wondered how tumblr is funded - there are no ads and no paid accounts - but now I think I know: it's a massive scale social experiment into people talking to people they hate about things they disagree on.
