Flames. Flames on the side of my face...
UGH. NBC talks about their shitty Olympics coverage.
See, I knew they'd point to ratings and say that they're doing everything right. Of course it completely ignores the fact that it's the only way you can get to watch the games. YouTube and the IOC all direct you to NBC's site. BUT you can only watch on NBC's site if you subscribe to paid cable. So guess what everyone has to do? Did you say watch broadcast NBC? OMG YOU'RE RIGHT. RATINGS.
This attitude right there is something we've put up with for years from Hollywood. Is it really any wonder I've got a natural hate for anything that's imported and "translated" for American audiences? Everything is processed and homogenized and Americanized and it makes me want to shred things into tiny bits.

NBC is the opposite of Batman but they have been that for a while.

Have you tried watching the BBC stuff through a proxy? I wouldn't normally recommend that (because, you know, of the whole TV License thing and us having to pay for it and being rather protective of it) but the BBC Online footage is absolutely flawless. Their online viewer (which has been redesigned specifically for the Olympics) can switch between all 24 feeds (when they're all active) has tabs along the bottom (labelled with specific events/moments) so you can go back and catch up with things you've missed before skipping back to live footage and, because it works both live and as saved footage, won't skip if there is a lag-it'll just continue from that point.
The online stuff is so good I haven't even bothered watching it on my TV.

(And people scoff at us having to pay £10/month TV licence...)
Sending lots of hugs though - sounds really really crap. :(
Can you not get some DNS hider software to allow you to watch BBC iPlayer? That's live.
