I'm about 6 episodes into The Pretender and I'm currently wishing for an edited version. I'm finding that I don't really care about Jarod's Adventure of the Week. Like, pretty much at all. Sorry, Jarod. :D

Just give me Centre stuff! And Jarod/Ms. Parker stuff!

It's also weird - the first few eps look like they were made in the 80s, but the first ep aired in 1996. I guess some production values still lingered for a while.

(Ha! In looking that information up, I learned that "the building seen in nearly every episode and identified as "The Centre" is actually the R. C. Harris Water Treatment Plant, located in Toronto, Canada.")

You know, if The Pretender were around today, you could find the Edited Version on youtube. Silly fandoms, coming around too early. :-P

But there's probably a list around somewhere of all the good stuff...

I know, right? There would be a massive amount of fics and gifs and clips of key scenes! Hell, someone would have probably cobbled together an entire episode to wrap the series up!

You mean other than the terrible, terrible movies that I try to forget existed?

I liked Jarod's adventures.

I did when I watched it the first time around, but now I'm just "GET TO THE JAROD/PARKER STUFF." :D

Yeah, I'm enjoying that this time around as well.

That is what fast-forward is for! Because, yes. Sometimes, Jarod and his sociopathic tendencies are less than interesting.

SOMETIMES, I wish it was ALL CENTRE ALL THE TIME.

But, uh, that would get almost as boring, after a while (probably?)

eta: though i should admit I started near the end of the first season, skipped the finale (saw it about two years ago), and went onto season two. So, those early ones are a bit rougher. or at least, less memorable.

Yeah, I can see the "Adventure of the Week" getting pretty boring. Most of that was pretty formulaic. The best stuff on that show was always involving the Centre, Ms. Parker, and Sydney (along with Jarod, of course!).

Is it possible they just had a really low budget for awhile there? I can see them not getting much funding until they saw how it went.

That could easily be - that they didn't really get the money until later.

But yeah, it's pretty formulaic. :D

Miss Parker and Sydney were always the best parts of the show. I recall one episode much further on from where you're viewing when I fast-forwarded through the entire Jarod storyline because what Broots was up to was just so unbelievably hysterical.

I don't blame you one bit! I just watched an episode where Jarod had sex for the first time. After laughing for a bit the fast forward button was hit. :D
