- Damn, Robert. You just keep on sucking. I kind of hate how the storylines have given him easy outs for all his difficulties. He could stand to spend some time humbled. Of course then he'd probably walk around acting like he was the first person in history with manpain. I'm not sure which is worse.
- Thomas, you really need to stop being creepy. And the writing on this storyline really needs to stop being sloppy.
- Daisy, take the job on the farm! Your life will be so much better!
- On the previews for next time, Mary's "what about papa?" line made me facepalm. But I guess if the writers didn't make Mary stick up for Robert, no one would be left to really give a shit about him. BUT STILL. STOP PROTECTING HIS EGO, MARY. JUST STOP.
- Matthew had a line about not knowing what the future brings and not taking things for granted. AND IF THAT'S NOT OMINOUS.
- DOES THIS MEAN THE BATES STORYLINE WILL FINALLY BE OVER? DARE WE HOPE?
- I'm really not sure why Violet and Robert were that invested in how baby Sybil would be raised. She isn't a Crawley and she's a girl. I can understand them wanting the best for her, but the way they were talking it sounded as if the pillars of the House of Crawley rested on baby Sybil.
- Speaking of, I'm not really sold on the baby's name. I mean, it's nice and I see why Tom would want it, but isn't it putting a hell of a huge millstone around this kid? Talk about a huge weight of expectation of her. If everything is "what you did/how you look reminds me of your dead mother who died giving birth to you, and even your name is not your own" that really sucks for the kid.

Matthew, glad you voicing your opinion.
Mary, either stand by your husband or father but you cant stand by them both. make-up your mind.
Anna, happy with you that you got your husband back but has a feeling Bates will be in jail or do something stupid.
Daysi, run your father-in-law farm. you can do it. what Mr.Manson has said will be true.
Mr. Mason, glad your back can you stay and give Daysi good advice forever.

I think this might all be ramping up to a showdown, and then she really will have to take sides.

They can make jams for the fair! It's the best kind of life!

It was too neatly wrapped up.
I agree with you on the sloppy writing about Thomas and Footman-what's-his-name. If I remember correctly, they hinted at Thomas being Gay before (a lover of the guy who was supposed to marry Mary but died on the Titanic) but never went anywhere with it. Sort of late for that now.
Yeah, we did know he was gay. But what I can't quite buy is how he's all over Jimmy. Thomas is usually so crafty and this seems so very clumsy.
I do think Violet and Robert want the best for baby Sybil but yes, it was OOC that they were all like "BUT SHE'S A CRAWLEY! SHE MUST BE BAPTIZED COE!" and all that bull-shit. Tom has full authority on how, why and where his daughter is raised. The Crawley family is just lucky that he is even bothering to tell them what he is thinking of doing. He's not even asking their opinion so FUCK OFF ROBERT and stop offering it.
Robert's probably hoping he can bully him into it while he's in shock.
I'm not sold on the baby's name either. I do see where Tom is coming from by choosing it, desire to always remember his wife, and I didn't see it as a millstone but rather he chose it just to make the barb hurt a little more. To remind the Crawley's that this is HIS Sybil and that they threw their Sybil away.
Man, that still would suck for the kid.

And it doesn't matter to me how Daisy gets to the farm, as long as she goes. She needs to grow up a bit, and it seems like she'll never do it at Downton.
