I have the original SW on tape! Take that, Lucas!

Time travel. That's the only explanation. Someone squished a fish a million years ago and now we're stuck with Yanni music at the end of Return of the Jedi. See? That's what you get for defying the laws of physics.

So whoever did this giant pooch screw, would you kindly go back in time and stop yourself from going back in time? You know, the first time. I'm sure you'll figure it out. And for the love of God, stop squishing fish! Otherwise we're liable to end up with entire Star Wars movies about really annoying characters battling their way through senate zoning laws.

ROFL!! Glad I wasn't the only one to notice that. And I have my original tapes too, so unless Lucas plans on knocking down my door, I have the true ending! *hears knocking* Hmm..wonder who that could be...

Refresh my memory (cause I'm old and can't remember shit). What got changed between the original and the Lucus-screwup?

And BTW, Ridley Scott change the ending of Blade Runner back to the original for the DVD release. Guess he had second thoughts after seeing all the crap that Lucas did with Star Wars.

I knoooow! Why did they change the pretty music?!

*pats tapes*

I know! Every time I watch Jedi, I run the good old music in my head. I like the new video, but not the new audio.

RUN! It's HIM!!!

Well, there were lots of little things...and bigger CGI things, but in this case it was the music at the ending. All of a sudden there are Ewoks dancing around to New Age music probably ghost written by Yanni. *shudder*

Oh yeah. Something about Deckard being an android? And I wouldn't mind so much if Lucas wants to go nuts, if he had released the original on DVD as well. Bah.

Ugh. I happened to tune in at the very end yesterday. I watched the fun "He's my brother" scene and then Luke burning Hayden...I mean Darth and then BAM. Crappy Yanni music!! :P

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had it going in my head too. I kept thinking how wrong the new music was. Wah.

Ridley actually turned it back to the originally planned unhappy ending. There were negative vibrations from preview audiances so they changed the ending and made it end on an upbeat, happy note.

Regarding Star Wars I saw the original in 1977 but after being bombarded with reworking after reworking (and my brain not really doing that great at recall) I couldn't remember the differences. I know they added a bunch of CGI. That didn't bother me too much but I know that a whole bunch of little things made bigger changes of the whole.

I'd love to see Star Wars the same way I saw it in the 70's. I don't think it needed all the tinkering.

Ugh. Blade Runner is supposed to be dark!

The only one I saw in the theater was Return of the Jedi. The rest my brother and I would rent on video every chance we got. :D You know, the CGI didn't bug me as much as the music. It's usually one of the first things that registers with me when seeing a movie.

No, I don't either. One of these days I'm going to have to transfer my tapes to DVD before they dissolve.

...this means that the episode of 'Spaced' where Tim and Brian watch ROTJ makes much more sense now... in the episode, you can hear Ewoks singing at the end but on my DVD there's the New Age pan-pipe style music.

Bloody George Lucas! Personally, I reckon the Ewok singing sounds better.

Yup, that's it.

Yeah, even the ewoks sound better than what's there now.

I love the "he's my brother scene". *is shippy*

But how freaky was it to see Hayden there? I mean, it makes a certain amount of sense, but still freaky.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Very freaky. :( Don't mess with old movies!

[identity profile] corenn.livejournal.com 2005-05-10 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Random stranger says: I actually tried that, but the original VHS set is copyright protected. So all you get is snow on the DVD. In other words, no dice. Unless you, I dunno, played the tapes in your VCR and recorded them on the TV screen with a digital camera and transferred that to the DVD.
[/random note of bummer]

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2005-05-10 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn! I didn't even think about the copyright protection. That blows. :(

Squishing fish? :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No, *don't* squish fish! Don't!

OMG! Are you having a stroke? Should I get help??

[identity profile] besyd.livejournal.com 2005-05-22 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
No, silly. I'm singing the original Ewok song at the end of RotJ!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
