He's baaaaaaack...
Thought I'd jot down some thoughts about tonight's premiere. *Very* general impressions - I'll leave the play-by-play to others. Also, I'm not in a huge "pick apart" mood, so these are really general impressions.
Behind the Scenes
Behind the Scenes
- This was a pretty typical "behind the scenes" that you often see on DVD extras. Brief run-through of the characters then off to set design, writing and other production elements. But it was all really fun and had me grinning. It's obvious the cast and crew have tons of fun. *So* much dry humor. :) CJ is just a kick in the pants! *g* And I loved RDA's goofing off excuse of "cosmic giddiness." You know, I very much relate to that. :)
- First off - the credits. They did it just how I thought they would - list everyone off and then at the end had Michael Shanks as Dr. Daniel Jackson. But, CN is gone, which makes sense since he's no longer a regular.
The plot. Meh. Nothing spectacular. Basically its only point was to bring Daniel back and get Jonas to leave. But damn - this is such a character-driven show, I could watch Jack play with his yo yo for an hour and be amused. (Heh heh.)
I felt unsettled for some reason until they were back on Earth in the briefing room. Maybe I was just trying to re-adjust to Daniel or maybe I needed to see them all in familiar surroundings. But after they got back to the base things seemed more...in place, if you will.
Some great moments with Jack & Daniel that had me grinning - dang those two've got fantastic comedic timing!
Of course I feel compelled to talk about any possible S/J ship. While there was nothing overt, I'm really loving their working relationship nowadays. :) Completely at ease. And Sam's no longer hiding her annoyance at some of Jack's comments. *snicker* And as
Poor Jonas. But they had to go that way. Only that threat (and accompanying personal guilt) would make Jonas leave SG-1. I still think it's really too bad. I liked the Daniel & Jonas scenes and would have loved to have seen more of that throughout the season. Ah well.
Nice last line - something like "do we get paid for this?" Reminded me of the movie.
Hmm...not very deep, was it. Well, tough!
