Okay, I did actually watch the most recent episode of SG-1. Saw a bunch of positive posts on my flist beforehand from east coasters/mid-states. I wasn't going to post about it but apparently there was controversy in it. Plus I've just eaten about about 10 Hershey's minis and am feeling rather spazzy.

Well, the overall episode was okay, I thought. Haven't had watched an ep of SG-1 in a while and while I was *slightly* lost, it was nothing I couldn't get over. Some chick giving Daniel coordinates for something. Sheppard and Cameron waving lemons around. Sam...what was Sam doing again? And Teal'c was off having some stoic alone time.

I can't decide if it was a nice nod to a 2nd season ep or backtracking - they've used the whole black hole thing before, haven't they? Season...7 maybe? 5? Something. Speaking of S5, that shot of releasing the stargate, was that me or was that a re-matted scene from that one episode? Not sure since I didn't haul out the DVDs and haven't watched that ep in years. Wait...is that when they did the black hole thing as well? And they blew up a sun?

ANYWAY, I wasn't all bouncy about the episode. Not to say it was horrible. I just get this "been there, done that" with it, which is probably why I don't watch the show anymore. And why I don't keep watching *and* posting about it, because I have no desire to rain on anyone's parade. Nothing worse than a bitter fan who can't move on. I'm happy if people love it.

So. Controversy. The lemon.

I've only ever watched a couple of episodes of SGA, so I'm not sure of the dynamics between Sheppard and McKay other than the fact that they're a major pairing in fandom. Kinda puts a damper on the penguin sex if Sheppard's been carrying around Rodney repellent all along, eh?

Thing is, I could see Jack O'Neill totally getting away with something like that. Probably because he already had this sort of "fuck off" attitude towards people that annoyed him. But while he'd wave it around, he'd also be completely in control of said lemon and would never actually let anyone get hurt by it.

So are people getting upset that even though Sheppard didn't try and actually implement the food allergy, he shouldn't have joked about it?

Or was there a fear that Sheppard or Cameron would have said bye-bye to relationships, careers and their lives so that they could take Rodney down with a "When life gives you lemons, you die, bitch!"?

Or maybe McKay could have fallen on one of the guys and squishing the lemon? I suppose that's possible. Of course, take sex out of the mix and your percentages drop well below death by Wraith, Ori or even kiss by Sam.

Hmm. Has anyone actually checked on Pete lately?

ETA: *FLAILS* I knew I had seen that commander dude before! He was the jerk fiance in The Wedding Singer!

Yes, he's turned it into an art for real.
