Veronica Mars S2 questions:

  1. So if Beaver was this evil, cold-blooded killer all along, why didn't he take out Woody first? Or very shortly soon after? It doesn't make sense to me that the person that caused actual harm to him would have been pretty much left alone for all that time.

  2. The Phoenix Land Trust - that was a Beaver plan to screw over Kendall, right? But it just backfired?

  3. How was Veronica able to text such a long message to Logan when she was on the roof?

  4. Veronica was in the running for the Kane scholarship? Wasn't that for the Valedictorian? I find it *SO* hard to believe that Veronica could have pulled something like that off with all her extra-curricular activities. She'd fall asleep in class all the time, for crying out loud. Good/decent grades, I could see. Maybe. Despite always doing other things in class. Very top of her class? No way.

ETA: Also, Duncan is *all* kinds of scary. He shouldn't be raising the baby either.

Ah, you've hit the vague hand-waving portion of the season. I enjoyed season 2, but I try not to question the ending to closely, lest the holes I poke suddenly become big enough to shove a Sycorax ship through. ;-)

Heh heh heh. I'm thinking they would have been better off if they had kept things a bit simpler in S2. But oh well. I'm looking forward to S3! Yay!

But it's still far better than going out and buying something like Project: Runway , don't you think. You want to talk about holes. Everyone on that show has a hole in their head. Be happy you can still enjoy a real show...

But yet, I watch that too. CRACK, I TELL YOU!

1. 'Cause it makes as much sense that Beaver is a cold-hearted murderer and rapist. This was the one thing that bugged me the most about S2. I'm willing to buy that Beaver could be this evil, but I don't think tptb pulled it off. In the finale, when he was on the roof with Logan and Veronica, he flips out at the very end because Logan calls him "Beaver," which he's internalized to be this terrible affront. Yet, prior to Logan appearing on the roof, Veronica cries and repeatedly calls him "Cassidy." Except that the Beav has no reaction to that whatsoever. It just ... makes no sense. It could have, but ultimately didn't.

2. I don't know if Beaver was trying to screw Kendall with this one. I think it was really more his way to make oodles of money, courtesy of blackmailing Woody. But since Beaver was younger than 18, he did need an adult to front the company, hence Kendall's involvement. (If Beaver hadn't committed suicide, Kendall wouldn't have received much -- if any -- of the money Beaver had made through the Trust.)

3. This I'm not sure of. A part of me wants to believe Veronica simply forwarded the message she thought she'd received from Mac. (The one that was really sent by Beaver.)

4. Yeah, this one annoyed lots of fans. The scholarship is for the student with the highest GPA. So while I have no problems believing Veronica's smart enough to pull off straight As (despite falling asleep in class and picking fights with teachers, etc.), most teachers factor attitude into a student's overall grade, and there's just no way I see Veronica still maintaining straight As with that factored in. Oh, well.

1. Yeah, he was just too...young, or something. And yeah, they tried but didn't quite succeed in it. Probably because they tried too much to make it a "shocking" who-done-it.

2. Hmm. That could be. Although I just kept getting this vibe that he wanted Kendall to go down for some reason.

3. Ohhhh. Maybe that was it.

4. Right. Plus you'd think there'd be more students bucking to get into Ivy League, so there should have been a lot more competition.

1. Er...because he was trying to get back at everyone all at once (and by everyone, I mean Woody and his father), but Peter and...the other gay kid were going to go to the police, so he had to get them out of the way. Yeah...it's kinda stupid.

2. The Phoenix land trust was to make a lot of money so that he could run away afterwards and maintain his lifestyle after screwing over his father and getting rid of Woody. He needed Woody in power to make it work, because there had to be a threat of incoporation, and then it had to fail.

3. Because she is Veronica Mars.

4. Because she is Veroncia Mars.

:)

1. heh heh.

2. OHHHHHH. You know, I didn't even think about that.

3 & 4. HA! Of course! :D

I really didn't like Beaver being so evil that in order to take out TWO kids, he would risk killing everyone on the bus. That seems sloppy, lazy and psychotic. While they tried to give evidence that Beaver is crazy and has no regard for human life (rape, killing "Keith"). They also proved that he was efficient and smart. Couldn't he have found a way to kill those two boys without killing the other 7 people? Or paid them? Or hired Veronica to get dirt on them to blackmail them. Or just put his foot down and say "NO! I do not want my name in the paper about this. Don't involve me. I'll deny everything." Why did those boys not respect his wishes. I bet if Beaver had told them that a grave at the bottom of the ocean was the alternative they would have decided against it.
I really liked Beaver, so I was upset at this. Plus, it didn't feel as well planned and too "BAM! Did we shock you?" at the end. My ideal season two is written here I think it's worth a read since it's written like a real script and is fantastic!!! So far there are six episodes.

Right right right. I couldn't quite figure out if they wanted him to be panicked, psychotic or calculating. Don't know they knew either.

May have to check that out. :)

I vaugely remember it mentioned that she was going for it (the Kane scholarship) in some episode, but...yeah. Vague recollection. Could be wrong.

*snigger* That must have made the Kanes all kinds of excited. ;)

Yeah, I was kinda gearing up for some kind of Kane reaction to her winning the scholarship. Oh well. :D
