  Actually, I can barely remember my family's birthdays and it usually ends up with an "OH CRAP" and an Amazon gift card. Heh. For a while my brother and I were using Amazon gift certificates as currency until we got even too lazy for that. Now it's like, "yeah, I *think* I owe you $200 so I'll buy the next round of parent gifts." The future sister-in-law has already declared this system as bizarre. Mwah!
