Christmas in June

[livejournal.com profile] nandamai came up with something for Fragile Balance and I threw together a picture. Of course, it really won't be funny unless you're familiar with that TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Since [livejournal.com profile] josephides wasn't familiar with it, this might have never made it out of the US.

Now I'm running around looking at web sites for all those old Christmas specials. What was that one about the mice...and the clock that the brainy mouse sabotaged?

HUH? What plane of existense were you living on as a kid? ;)

I love the Heat Miser song. I'm going to sing happily all day long.

I have actually now *heard* that song, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nandamai and all I can say is BWAH!

No! Really! It even had a song...hey! I found it!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0208654)

Okay, so it wasn't one of those stop-motion ones. But it was a Bass/Rankin. :P

I love the Heat Miser song. I'm going to sing happily all day long.

"I'm Mister Green Christmas, I'm Mister Sun. I'm Mister Heat Blister, I'm Mister Hundred and One..."

:)

Hee!!

[identity profile] chiroho.livejournal.com 2003-06-23 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
Have to say this is ringing no bells with me either. Maybe I just didn't watch enough of those Christmas specials when I was a child.

[identity profile] tinagilman.livejournal.com 2003-06-23 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
*giggle* What about "Busy, busy, busy!" for Sam from the Frosty the Snowman cartoon?

[identity profile] alliesings.livejournal.com 2003-06-23 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'm not the only one who thought that! Then, he went running around and flew for the first time! (That is my mom's favorite part of the movie.) "I'm Cuuuuude." Because he had that thing over his nose, and he couldn't say "cute."

Now I'm running around looking at web sites for all those old Christmas specials.

Oh, yeah, there was the Kris Kringle one, and there was the Frosty the Snowman one, and "The Island of Misfit Toys."

Yep - all the ones they show on PAX or The Family Channel every December. :)

I'm quite sure they now include quotes from the stop-motion Christmas specials in the INS citizenship exam. Just ask [livejournal.com profile] hyari.

;)

In that case, I'm frelled! ;)

That said, I've done the online version, and it was so trivial it was unbelievable.

*nods* Just after the Civil War questions.

Mrs. Claus: Eat, Poppa, eat.
Santa Claus: How can I eat? That silly elf song is driving me crazy.
Mrs. Claus: You're gonna disappoint the children. They expect a fat Santa.

So Mrs. Claus is the one promoting his unhealthy lifestyle!

You already got an answer, so I'll just point out that now I'm going to have "Even A Miracle Needs A Hand" running through my head the rest of the day.

Yes, I have the songs from that cartoon about 80% memorized. It's not my fault. They just stuck there...

[identity profile] spikesbuffy.livejournal.com 2003-06-23 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)

OMG! I loved that one. He sabotaged the big town clock that played the special song for Santa!

You know, I really want to say it was "Night Before Christmas" but I'm not positive.

Love the pic, Michelle.

Didn't Suz do a fic on that? Think I'll go with that. *g*

They're so ingrained into my childhood memories.

Holy Crap! Melly comes out of her HP hole!

Holy Crap! Melly comes out of her HP hole!

Yes. Finally stopped sobbing. Betaing for Jojo and watching my S3 Sg1 dvds. Plus there's the HP fluffy fic I must read to cheer me up.

Close - 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

*rolls eyes* I was just to lazy to type out the whole name... ;)

Sigh.

Yes she did, and a wonderful one at that.

[identity profile] diavestra.livejournal.com 2003-06-23 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
As a child? Heck, I still watch them every year....

Re:

I'm sure I will be again once my kids get a little bit older!

I love the Heat Miser song. I'm going to sing happily all day long

Was that the stop-animation one with the Frost guy, too?

It was made in the same vein as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman...

Oh yeah...his brother was the cold one and they never got along.

"Whatever I touch, turns into [icicles?]...
It's too much!"

::assorted lackeys chorus::
"TOO much!"

Eek...I remember that!

::bangs head on desk::

He's Mr. Heat Miser
He's Mr. Hundred and One (and then the temp gage goes all the way up!)

Re:

Er, how old are they? Mine, um, will be 4 next month...

Re:

[identity profile] chiroho.livejournal.com 2003-06-24 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
I have a daughter 3 3/4, and a son 15 months!

For some reason last year we didn't have her watching too much Christmas stuff - except for The Wiggles anyway!

Re:

[identity profile] diavestra.livejournal.com 2003-06-24 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Son loves the Wiggles! Right now he's sitting next to me "reading" a bug book. Pantsless. *sigh*

Re:

[identity profile] chiroho.livejournal.com 2003-06-24 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
We went to see The Wiggles when they were in concert here in Boston last Nov. I think my daughter was a little overwhelmed to tell the truth. She did enjoy it though!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2003-06-24 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
*pats* You're not alone.

I wanna go home! Mommy, may I go home now?

*pats Sel*

Not until you've watched the chicken head-chopping scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

[identity profile] seldear.livejournal.com 2003-06-26 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
There was a chicken head-chopping scene in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

::ponders both book and movie::

I don't remember that!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2003-06-26 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
It was in the trippy tunnel scene where things start to get psychedelic. Most people repress that part.
