I'm putting you on Clu Gulager alert.

Don't think there's any way I'm going to catch up on 5 days of flist, so anything happen while I was gone? Old schoolers lay down with shippers? Cats and dogs living together?

For some reason I'm feeling very little motivation to catch up on any shows I missed while gone. Lost, BSG, Torchwood. I'd rather play with my pictures from the trip.

ETA: Oddly enough, Torchwood spoilers now in the comments.

Real plastic cow at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.

You want big cheese? We got your big cheese. Cheese curds are my new favorite cheese, by the way.

Blue Heron French Cheese Company lama.

Blue Heron French Cheese Company chicken. That was judging me.

Tillamook State Forest. The photos don't do the beauty justice. Seriously.

Multnomah Falls at the Columbia River Gorge. We took the scenic highway and hiked to a few different falls. STUNNING.

Up on the bridge, looking down at the lower falls.

Taken in a "Holy shit, that's a big fish!" moment, quickly followed by a "Damn, that's ugly" moment. 8-foot-long sturgeon.

Hey, we went to Multnomah Falls when one of my college friends got married in Portland. Of course everybody goes to Multnomah Falls, so it's a pretty lame coincidence.

You really, really should watch the most recent BSG.

Yeah, it's pretty much on the "must see" list. We ended up eating lunch at the lodge there, which was *really* good. :)

I will. Eventually. *YAWN*

Welcome back. Everyone is weighing in on their Torchwood thoughts which has resulted to an extent in some Rose bashing. But what else is new? Hee I d/led both epis but haven't watched yet. I was away this weekend as well. BSG rocked.

How the HELL did that happen? Torchwood has absolutely nothing to do with Rose, right? On second thought, I *really* don't want to know. Good God. Well, at least DW fandom is exactly where I left it.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It is my belief that they all secretly love her because they sure talk about her quite a bit.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course! Don't know why I didn't see it before. Came to a similar conclusion about the SG-1 fandom a while back. It's secret love, baby! Or at least lust.

Really? I, fortunately, have not seen any Rose bashing yet, although I suspect it has something to do with the revelation in the last ten minutes of episode 1, am I right? (Being circumspect so as not to spoil Michelle.)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Rose made him immortal?? Ooooh, that is *so* going in a future fic. OMG, the Rose angst!

(I peeked at spoilers.)

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! I know, isn't it great? Also, if Rose just barely touching him with the Vortex power made him immortal, what did it do to her? Sure, the Doctor sucked it out of her *cough*, but he only did enough so she wouldn't die of it. The possibilities are endless. I love it.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
See? The power of the TARDIS can do anything! ;)

I *really* need to know canon motivation for that now. Was it because Rose loved Jack and always wanted him to be safe? Or was it that she wanted people in the Doctor's life that would be around forever, simply because of the Doctor's loneliness? If it's the latter, it'd have to be a *massive* (to the point of almost 100%) influence of the TARDIS since Rose herself had no idea the Doctor could regenerate at that point. She found out 5 minutes later, sure. But timing is everything.

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sort of assuming it was a bit like trying to give someone a drink from a fire hydrant. Rose wanted to "bring life", but because she's working with enough power to destroy half a million Daleks by waving her hand, she....brought more life than one person needed.

(I was going to friend you, I hope you don't mind?)

Oh, I *like* that. It totally makes sense - it was a power she couldn't control.

Okay, now there's yet *another* reason they totally need to bring Rose back. I just have to see the whole fallout with that.

(I was going to friend you, I hope you don't mind?)

Don't mind at all. :)

Yes, totally! Not only just the reactions all around, but now I'm finding it harder to believe that Rose was completely unchanged by the Time Vortex when she caused the Doctor to regenerate and Jack to become immortal. The possibilities are, indeed, endless.

PS: Why does a cheese farm need a chicken? I sort of get the llama, I mean...wait, can you make llama cheese? I know goat cheese, is there llama cheese too?

Yeah, I'm finding it harder and harder to believe that there is/will be no ramifications to Rose having the time vortex running around in her head.

They also had ducks. Not *exactly* sure what they were all cooking up in the barn, but I really hope it wasn't llama cheese. :D

*flails*

Ultra, ultra angst! It's like a whole chain of guilt! I may not have a plot yet, but now I've got a theme - woo!

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
*flails with you* Isn't it fab? And you've got a theme! Yay! *does the dance of joy* Do you want to confab about it? I'm on several versions of IM right now.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh just how a certain female character is a carbon copy of Rose and they hope to God that changes. Pfft if she is like Rose then she must be a great charcter IMO.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome back! Sounds like you had a great time!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I did! Thanks!

Also, if you want Torchwood, check out the most recent posts in my journal.

DUCK!

Omg! Have you read the latest recaplet on TWOP?

Jacob went insane while you were gone.

Umm...what else? Oh, I have a Veronica/Weevil layout and I wrote Romance Novel Snark. That's about it for me.

Did you happen to make it to Powell's?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 06:18 am (UTC)(link)

HA!!

Well, I stopped reading him after TCI recap. It started out funny and all, but then...I went nuts during the whole Peter Pan analogy and didn't even read the rest. Think Jacob and I had our own parting of the ways after TPotW. Too bad he doesn't know we've broken up...

Umm...what else? Oh, I have a Veronica/Weevil layout and I wrote Romance Novel Snark. That's about it for me.

Romance Novel Snark? For some reason, your journal is all white to me - can't read anything. But as a rule, Veronica/Weevil is very cute.

Did you happen to make it to Powell's?

I did!! It was amazing! I dorkily even looked for Doctor Who books, which they had, but only older books. None of the new stuff.

[identity profile] calyx.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I stopped reading him after TCI recap.

No. You really need to read this. It will boggle your mind. Like seriously.

Romance Novel Snark?

Yup. I wrote a synopsis of every Diana Palmer romance novel EVER.

For some reason, your journal is all white to me

Ok, that's just weird.

Yay! I love Powell's.

I'm scared!

Yup. I wrote a synopsis of every Diana Palmer romance novel EVER.

Okaaaaay. That was weird.

I saw a thread about him on fandom wank. I don't read Doctor Who TWop, but I saw some of the old schoolers taking him to task. But since I don't hold their opinions in high regard, I didn't really get into the whole wank thread.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I really liked reading the recaps for the S1 eps. Really, *really* liked. So I was excited about reading his S2 recaps. And then he proceeded to get nutty in the recap for The Christmas Invasion which completely turned me off. Haven't gone back since.

[identity profile] angst-angel.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, looks like quite a trip -- very pretty.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
It really was! :)
