It's 10:30 a.m. I work half a mile from the coast. And right now it's 86 degrees outside.

*SHAKES FIST*

Damn you, Santa Anas!! It's November!

I spent over 5 hours on Saturday night outside in sub-freezing temperatures.

Can we trade places?

o_O

Go inside! BRRRR.

I actually think I'd love a bit of freezing weather right about now. It's been hot since May this year and I'm sick of it.

How is it usually in San Diego, weatherwise, around Thanksgiving? I was thinking of doing a day trip down there, as I'll be in L.A. for the holiday.

*Generally* it's very nice. Maybe low 70s for the high. Of course, it's pretty much a toss-up what you'll actually get. I've seen it raining and being very cold on Thanksgiving, but we've also had Santa Anas before and it's been in the 80s.

I know! It's supposed to get to 90 today. That is just *wrong*. Wrong and bad!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-11-06 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
ACK! It's 89 NOW. It's not even noon yet! I'm on the coast! If I had realized it was probably going to get up to 100 today, I would have left my A/C on. Damn.

Got any advice for cool things to do for a day? Is walking on the beach feasible? Is there a cool downtown area to poke around in?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-11-06 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, La Jolla is very cool to walk around. The Children's Pool usually has seals hanging out on it, and there's a nice walkway along a grassy area. You can usually watch scuba divers and kayakers in the area and sometimes you can spot dolphins. Plus you can walk down to both beach areas and rocky tide pools. It's usually where I take people from out of town.

I'd recommend doing that in the morning as parking is tight.

The Gaslamp District is fun to walk around, which is right downtown. Although the majority of it is restaurants. But Horton Plaza is there, which is a large, outdoor mall.

Just a few blocks away from downtown is Seaport Village. It's fairly touristy, but is nice to walk around.

Don't know if you're interested in that type of thing, but right on the harbor, a few blocks away from downtown, is the USS Midway, which is an old aircraft carrier that you can tour. Haven't done that yet, but I have that under my "that sounds neat" list of things to do. Of course, I'm geeky about history/museums in general.

Go inside! BRRRR.

I wanted to! There was no inside, though. The football stadium I was at barely had indoor restrooms, and they weren't heated or anything. Just vaguely out of the wind. MEH.

It's been hot since May this year and I'm sick of it.

This is why fall is the best season EVER. Having lived in Florida and Texas (Houston), I feel your pain. That's a lot of heat! Will it cool down soon?

I hope so. It's not usually like this.

It is currently 93 here in the Inland Empire. Or rather, in Walnut, which I don't think is *quite* the Inland Empire. But still.

BLEH.

This weather kind of makes me sad, yeah.

It's supposed to be fall!
