12 hours of sleep and I'm ready for a nap.
Saw A Prairie Home Companion this weekend. In a word: refreshing. It was so nice to see a film that wasn't over-staged/produced. Which is probably not true, since this type of filmmaking undoubtedly requires extensive planning of staging and countless hours of editing. But what you end up with is that Robert Altman "home movie" feel. And who knew Woody Harrelson could sing? Or Meryl Streep for that matter. Lindsay Lohan seemed a bit "fish out of water" next to the acting chops of the others around her, but it wasn't horrible.
I could see how some would find this film utterly boring. Nothing much happens other than people's lives. No overly-tearjerky endings. No "let's save the radio station with this wacky scheme" plots. But that's pretty much the point - slice of life. Just...refreshing.
