I hate resolutions.

Never saw the point of resolutions. If you're going to do something, just do it. Why do you need to wait until the calendar flips? However, since this is mainly a fannish journal, thought I'd mention my fannish goals for 2007. Mainly Doctor Who-related, since that's what I'm into at the moment.
  1. I hope to write two plotty, long DW fics this year. I have ideas for others down the road, but considering it took me a few months to do the last one, three in a year seems like pushing it. Hell, I may not even get one done, as I still lack a plot for the first one.

  2. I'm trying to watch all Classic Doctor Who episodes, at least ones that still exist. a) For the most part, they really are fun. And sometimes the cheesy effects are part of the fun! (GIANT CLAM!!) b) Backstory, baby! (40+ years of backstory.) c) Have seen way too much of that "you dumb newbie shipper, you have no CLUE." Yeah, well, I'll get a clue! d) I've now got the idea of doing it in my head, and I think it was [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat who said once that I like to doggedly pursue things. And this is true.

  3. I've seen whiffs of some sort of SG-1 Sam/Jack glee-a-thon happening soon, which I'd like to do *something* for. Not sure what yet though.

  4. I have an idea for a fun vid of DW S1 that I'd like to do. Not really a pairing vid. Just Nine, Rose and Jack being all bouncy.

  5. And finally, my goal is not to meow-boom on a weekly basis while S3 of Doctor Who airs. Calm blue ocean. Calm blue ocean. Calm blue ocean.

Yay! Speaking of which, if you want to do some plotting some evening, just let me know.

I'm trying to watch all Classic Doctor Who episodes, at least ones that still exist.

All of them? Including the First Doctor? Um. I don't think I'll join you with that one. Two and onwards, sure. One... he's a bit too crotchety for me, the dear. ;-)

I have an idea for a fun vid of DW S1 that I'd like to do. Not really a pairing vid. Just Nine, Rose and Jack being all bouncy.

I like this idea, too! I love them all bouncy, which is why I enjoy "Boomtown" so much, even though the main plotline sort of sucks.

And finally, my goal is not to meow-boom on a weekly basis while S3 of Doctor Who airs. Calm blue ocean. Calm blue ocean. Calm blue ocean.

*cough* I think I speak for all of us when I say that I'll believe that when I see it. ;-) However, I will do my part and try not to send you anything to exacerbate any meow-booming.

Cool! I came up with something the last time I was yapping at you, although I can't remember what now... :D But it did help!

Yup! Gonna do it all!

Don't you just love them all kicking back in the restaurant? I loved that scene.

Well, at least there's a filter, right? :D

With you as inspiration I am embarking on a Classic Who watch-a-thon. Just finiahed Genesis of the Daleks. OMG! I forgot how insane the giant clam was...

I await your meowing about S3 of the Doctor...

The clam is AWESOME.

Ahhh, I see you've learned to do your imitation of a guitar. :)

I'm trying to watch all Classic Doctor Who episodes, at least ones that still exist.

The lack of existence will not stop me! People made audio recordings, and I have to have something to do at the gym.

"you dumb newbie shipper, you have no CLUE."

Always irritating. Especially since my favorite doctor so far is Three, thanks. And I have huge fondness for One and Two. Though I have never directly met anyone who was all, "You didn't start watching in 1963, you are not a true fan!!" thankfully.

And finally, my goal is not to meow-boom on a weekly basis while S3 of Doctor Who airs.

I am still confused at the term "meow-boom".

Ooooh. That'd be good for the car.

I try and avoid the die-hard Old Schoolers at all costs, since you'll only inevitably get babble about how D/R is bad/evil/wrong/didn't actually exist.

Oh, it's a stupid term that came about a few years back. It started innocently enough here:

http://mrv3000.livejournal.com/36135.html?thread=622375#t622375

And then later, when witnessing the S/J shipper insanity around that time, likened the carnage to explosive cats. Just one of those silly things.

Yeah, I've been listening to Big Finish during my commute.

Fandom has taught me it's always safer to stick to my little corner. Luckily, my corner seems to be pretty big and comfortable in this case. Avoiding die-hard Old Schoolers is usually pretty easy.

I really need to start doing that. I've been itching to listen to more of Eight. Really like that Doctor.

Yeah, much nicer paddling around in small little pools.

I have been watching Classic Who for a while. I am going in order and making my way through One. There are reconstructions for many of the missing episodes and that helps. I enjoy it, but I am not like some who start watching and have it change my POV of the new series. I can happily be put in the category of dumb shipper (to use your phrase) by some of the old schoolers and even by new schoolers who are now watching the classic series and think of themselves as expert Whovians. I like what I like and am very much of the things change mentality. As much as I am liking classic Who, I like the new series more and am glad RTD made it his own.

Squee can't wait to read your new fic. I will be posting a DW book review post at some point and I hope you will add your thoughts.

That's brave of you to do it in order. Those earliest eps - wow. Don't think I could do too many of those in a row.

Oh yeah. I mean, I wouldn't be doing this if it weren't for S1 and S2. The New Who is what hooked me, which included the two-series love story. Seriously doubt there will be anything in Classic Who that will make me suddenly be anti-ship.

The fic will be a while. :) Which book?

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-01-02 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I have read three of the Nine/Rose books thus far and am starting on a fourth. LOL I am doing them in order too.

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-01-02 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you happen to need copies of Only Human or Stealers of Dreams? I have extras and I want to get rid of them.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-01-02 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually yes. I need both. Do you have a paypal account I can transfer the money to? Thanks. :)

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-01-02 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, don't worry about that, you can have them for free. You can e-mail me a shipping address (tsan_rhilin@yahoo.com) and I can send them out later today.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-01-02 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh thank you so much. You are wonderful.

Ooooh, can't wait for more DW fics...I'm looking forward to more fluff.

I'm the same when it comes to a task. Once I start, I like to be complete...and I went through looking at all the ones that are missing, and about 24 arcs are automatically crossed off the list...quite sad.

Also, YAY for vid! I'm thinking of a Nine/Rose one that I've been doing in my head for a long time. I don't know if I'll ever finish it, because it takes so long, but I like watching them.

I've got the song and everything. I just need to sit down and actually do it one of these days.
