DW: The Armageddon Factor (Four, Romana, K-9)

Well, goodbye Romana I. After 6 episodes it's like we hardly knew ye. But you were a pretty cool Companion. Well, I guess she still will be. Just in a different body. Do we at least get to see her off in Destiny of the Daleks?

But anyway, this was the last episode of the Key to Time series. And, I gotta say, it was really getting tense and interesting and then... Then it all ended anticlimactically. So, the Doctor disbursed the Key to Time again? Then what was the freekin point?! Were they trying to say that it had been the Black Guardian at the very beginning that sent the Doctor on the quest in the first place? If that was the case, why'd he send the Shadow in to throw up a road block?! If the Shadow hadn't been there, the Doctor probably would have collected the not-yet-Romana key and handed it over. o_O But that couldn't have been the Black Guardian at the beginning - if it was, why would he have given the Doctor the warning that ended tripping up the Black Guardian in the end? And now won't there be a pissed-off White Guardian somewhere in the universe still waiting for the Doctor to quit dinking around and get him the Key to Time?

I don't get it.

Heh. Randomizer on the TARDIS. Amusing, but it it ever seen or heard from again? I mean, quite clearly later on, the Doctor can go wherever he wants and isn't throwing darts at a board for the next location. I mean, sometimes he does, but he's not at the whim of some Randomizer.

And last but VERY not least, THEY ALMOST KILLED K-9!! You have no idea the angst of watching K-9 go towards the furnace while the Doctor sat oblivious in the other room. I kept thinking - there are multiple versions of K-9 now, right? 4? 5? OMG! What if this is where another version has to be made?! "Too...hot...Master..." NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Side note: Haven't watched (well, listened more like) all of "Marco Polo" yet, but in this Doctor Who history lesson, I'm learning that Marco Polo was a dick.

The randomiser is in control for... the entire next season? At least? Something like that.

As to the White Guardian and the Key: his words were something like, "assembled, it will stop all things in the universe and allow things to be readjusted properly" or something to that extent. So, in essence, the guardian doesn't NEED the Key where he is. He just needed it put together, for that moment of peace so he could restore the balance of good vs evil. Or whatever he was restoring.

The Black Guardian, however, just wants it to make chaos and stuff.

Alas, no. The first scene of that episode is the Doctor and K-9 hanging out in the control room. He calls out for Romana, and she says she's regenerating. Then, in a very funny scene, she comes out in several different forms, each of which the Doctor vetos. She finally gets the upper hand, though, although I won't say how. *g*

I thought TAF was pretty anticlimactic as well. Very, "We watched a whole season for this?"

Aww I loved that arc.

Heh heh. That should be fun.

And Re the Guardians: Okay, so the White Guardian did his thing but we just didn't see it? That makes me feel better. Still would have liked to have seen something to indicate balance was restored though. But I guess that would have given away that the Doctor was dealing with the Black Guardian at the end (not that everyone and their brother's dog didn't know.)

Okay, that works. Thanks! Was driving me bats last night.

Ha! That's so "hold on a sec!" :D

*snickers* Can't wait to see it!!

Yeah. Not sure *what* I was expecting. Princess Leia handing out medals maybe?

Oh, I really enjoyed the whole arc as well. Just the very end seemed kind of a letdown.

Heee I meant Marco Polo.

Oh, that one. :D That one I am liking the best so far of the One episodes, so it's a shame that's one of the lost episodes. But Marco Polo's still a dick. :D
