Meh.

I think the TMJ and wrecking my shoulder are taking its toll. I'm tired of hurting all the time. And this is more a whine than a need to be petted, which is why I haven't really mentioned this a lot before.
  • Last night's 24 was okay. Not much I feel the need to talk about.

  • Think Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars are off the TV rotation for now. Just wasn't motivated to watch last week and not motivated to watch this week.

  • Think I've decided to play pick-and-choose with DW's S3, which will be easy to do with reading people's spoilers ahead of time. If something looks good, I'll probably watch. If I'm rolling my eyes, I'll most likely skip it. Not sure if I'll watch the one episode that's related to a novel...not that I'm wiggy about the Doctor being human and engaged to this woman but doesn't remember being the Doctor (although, that whole plot - giant mound of crack) - but when I saw this spoiler I'd just watched The Aztecs where the Doctor accidentally becomes engaged. Okay, so that's mildly amusing. But then he proceeds to use her and eventually brush her off, leaving her heartbroken. Sweet Lord. In this novel, it's not really the same scenario (something about being a different person - again, giant mound of crack), but *another* woman ends up being jilted. Combine both of them, and it was all feeling rather crappy. Don't know if this S3 ep will be a sequel or an adaptation of the novel, but I have absolutely no desire to see the Doctor ultimately ditching some woman for whatever reason. And if the patronizing words of "you'll always have a special place with me" would be used, I'd probably go really nuts. Heh. So that episode could very well be skipped.

Yeah, Joan was the one in Human Nature as well.

Ah. I was under the impression that the names were different, or that the connection was more subtly, but I suppose that's what I get for trying to avoid spoilers, but not fan reaction to spoilers. The Wiki article really does make it sound like a direct adaptation doesn't it? That would be...that would sort of suck for a lot of reasons. Though I am cautiously optimistic that they wouldn't blatantly rip off one of the books. It's a Paul Cornell episode, it has to be good! *clutches at straws*

I'd almost think that wiki could be wrong (wiki? wrong? NEVER!) but they have actual cast lined up with full character names. So it seems pretty valid.

Yeah. *sighs* If they managed to get past the Doctor wanting to become human by making it an accident, you're still winding up with this ickiness at the end with, "Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to break your heart. But you'll always have a special place with me..." And if they avoid the human thing altogether (which is messy in so many ways anyway), well, then the Doctor really does cycle through love interests like companions.

Heh. I'm in a MOOD today. A mood, I tell you!

Well, Paul Cornell was the one who *wrote* this original novel. He may just throw the whole thing at Ten.

Yeah, I may be skipping this one.

Or, I suppose, they could go the high-ground route with the Doctor asking her to come with him, but gets shot down since this person is not becoming a regular cast member. In which case...Christ. The Doctor *really* needs to go through another emotionally wrenching deal this next season, EH?

ENOUGH ANGST ALREADY! I'm starting to wish to see the Doctor playing chess with K-9 for an hour.
