I don't know. This seemed like a lot of filler to me. I had a conversation with
icepixie last week about the 13-episode season for next year, and this type of episode probably wouldn't be in a 13-episode season.
I found myself not really caring much about Adama's relationship with his dead ex-wife. And sorry to the "Mom and Dad" folks on my flist, I was cringing so much during the conversation at the end with Adama and Laura that I actually changed the channel. This *really* surprises me since normally I'm all over canon ships like a two-dollar whore.
The rescue of the Chief and Cally was pretty cool. Super risky, but their only option. I'm just glad they're both alive. Due to Billy and Kat, I've been twitchy about their secondary characters, half waiting for them to die. But seeing everyone in the ship made me realize that I miss those 20-minute dogfights, DAMMIT. Seeing everyone in the flight room was good and getting back on track. But can we see some fighter pilot stuff soon please?
Okay, Lee's not taking over Baltar's trial is he? He just got the books at the end and that's it, right? What was Laura thinking? *Surely* there must be some qualified people in the fleet - people whose experience with the legal system extends beyond sneaking peeks at his grandfather's law books when he was five. O_O And if the only person Laura trusts is a Major (or whatever rank he is now) with no legal experience, she really has been underselling/ignoring the population. I refuse to believe that the sum total of good/altruistic people all reside on Galactica.
Also, quit calling her Athena. It's Boomer. Even though the original Boomer's somewhere shaking off a Six knockout, she's still Boomer. She'll always be Boomer. *stomps* Thank you.

HA! And I never made it to the "we can't be together" thing - I'd already changed the channel to the Food Network where they were building fruit sculptures.
But it's a Symbolic Name Change! It's awesome! :)
But she's Boomer! She is! :D
"Boomer" is more fun to say, though. And "Athena" tends to remind me of this, which is not an image I really want in my head. (The statue was bad enough before they gilded and painted it. Now it's just...garish. Athena, goddess of wisdom and two-dollar whore!)
Oh wow. That's...wow.

I know. Ugh. And the sad thing is, it's inside this, which is of course gorgeous. (My museum internship las year was in the underground museum in that building.) That sculptor has stuff up all around town, and it's uniformly ugly. Sigh.
