DW: Terror of the Autons (Three, Jo)
Terror of the Autons (Three, Jo)
- This was an episode where the parts were better than the whole. Overall, it was a pretty typical the-Master-takes-over-the-world plot, but oh, the parts!
- More than anything, I wish that this episode had been done up by the MST3K boys. Not because I thought it was awful, there were just so many opportune moments. Like the Master turning up in a groovy horse trailer TARDIS. "Oh, yeah. I'm hip. I'm with it. Dig my groovy ride. A little something for the ponies." And whenever I saw the Master doing his hypnosis thing, "Drugs are for losers, and hypnosis is for losers with big, weird eyebrows!" kept popping into my head. :D
- Poor Jo. She just did not make a good first impression. And especially after uber-competent Liz. At the first the Doctor's like, "No. Nonononono." Well, no one could compare to Liz for pure competence, and Jo did do some pretty dumb things. Oh well.
- Best moment - after the Doctor steals the Master's dematerialization circuit, which he called "borrowing." Oh yes, Doctor. You've "borrowed" many things over the years, haven't you?
- The Brigadier: And this is what we're going to do now.
The Doctor: *sneak sneak sneak*
The Brigadier: Doctor, are you listening?
The Doctor: Yeah, sure, youbetcha.
The Brigadier: Good. Everyone got the plan? And...break!
The Doctor: So long, SUCKERS!!! *jams the Master's dematerialization circuit into the TARDIS*
The TARDIS: pthththththththththt!
The Doctor: DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!
And now for some reason I really want to see a picture of the TARDIS with a tongue sticking out of it. - Couple of quotes that made me snicker:
- *The Doctor kicks the TARDIS*
"Doctor, stop being childish."
"What's wrong with being childish? I like being childish!"
*
"I think you'll find, sir, that I am qualified to deal with practically everything... If I choose." - That one floaty Time Lord guy (yup, still have a hate for the Time Lords) mentioned that the Master got higher marks in some sort of class than the Doctor. The Doctor always looks so put out when someone mentions he wasn't the most awesomest student EVER at the Academy. :D But even if the Master did get better grades, he *totally* lacks in the common sense department. He just doesn't think thing through, so at the end he has to help the Doctor reverse what he's done. (Reverse the polarity! HA!) And this is why I still think that forget the grades, the Master's one of the slower Time Lords.
