"I believe that qualifies as 'ill'...at least from a technical standpoint."
It's a long and boring story, but today I bought a big-ass toaster to replace the toaster I once brought with me on a trip to Disneyland. I swear you could fit a small village into this new toaster and toast it.
Am still a bit snuffly, but today I felt much better since I napped much of the day, and I think I'll go into work tomorrow.
In between snoozes, I caught the tail end of an X-Files episode. I don't need a cut for a show that ended five years ago do I? I thought not. HOW exactly did the X-Files end again? I can't quite remember. Mulder and Scully spawned and then sent the kid away to a farm where he could run and play with other littlepuppies children, right? And then CSM said the world was going to end in 2006 or something, didn't he? Before an ICBM caught him between the eyebrows? (Talk about overkill.) And so Mulder and Scully, now childless, footloose and fancy-free, went off to...fight the future? See how many Motel 6s they could have sex in before the world ended? Or...?
Man, I was *really* into the X-Files for about the first 5 or 6 seasons. I saw the movie either three or four times in the theater. SHUT UP.
And now, after a hard day's napping, I'm going to bed. Oh yeah. I'm WILD, baby!

Mulder kills SuperSoldier disguised as a CIA agent (I think), and gets put on trial (basically death row?), and they're totally going to convict him no matter what. He and Scully get accused of having tons of sex for some reason. CSM warns we're all going to die on December 22nd, 2012 (yeah, I know). It's totally obvious Mulder will be killed, so he and Scully makeout and she cries about giving up their baby, and then they escape and go hide out in a motel room because they're on the run from the law. Thus completing Mulder's ruination of Scully's entire life and existence.

You just described my fannish beginnings. True story.
I should really watch the last 3 or so seasons because most of that went by me in a total blur and to this day I STILL don't know what happened.

Hah. I saw it 7 or 8 times in theater. I win! :-P And went to see a movie I wasn't particularly interested in just so I could see the trailer for XF (back in the day when it was harder to download such things online). And walked out on the movie in the first half hour because I was right not to be interested in it.
That said, I have no distinct memory of what happened in the finale, just that it was awful and I wished I hadn't come back after two seasons of not watching to watch that episode.

So it ends with them on the run in a hotel room? Sounds *vaguely* familiar.
Oh, Chris Carter. You cracked-out squirrel.
You know, I always *much* preferred their stand-alone episodes to the mythology arc. Still wish the movie had been a stand-alone, and actually, they could have gotten a pretty cool little franchise going if they had made it stand-alone. But no. It had to be about the over-arching grand conspiracy.

That's pretty much where I started too! Well, it was my first online venturing, not that I really did anything. Back when it first started my parents had AOL, which was practically the only type of internet access. I wound up in a chat room. Wasn't there long as the discussion quickly turned to GA's boobs. :D

Yeah, I hear you. I watched a few episodes here and there. Um...I just had some sort of flashback. I think a woman agent was imitating a whale in order to calm a pregnant Scully. Noooooo. That can't be right. That must have been a fic.

Okay, you win. :D Do you remember what movie it was that you walked out on? And what'd we all do before the internet? Seems like the Dark Ages.

After Hannah gave a breakdown, I *kinda* remember it. And remember being all "that was it??" when I watched when it aired. :P

So basically I'm still totally befuddled about what happened after season 5 *g*
I still need to rewatch season 6 (of which I did eventually see all episodes, but out of order) and season 7 (of which I've never seen all of the eps). I did see all of season 8 and most of season 9. I don't remember much of the final episode, apart from Mulder and Scully cuddling in a motel bed.. which is probably the only memory I wanted to cherish anyway ;-)
But because I have a deep love for the first 5-7 seasons, I do have all the DVDs *g*
And I still go back to my favourite fanfic every now and then. So the obsession still lingers in the back of my head :-)
My first online fandom *sighs a melancholy sigh*
And you'd think I'd have learned to stay away from cracktastic shows after that, but noooooo ;-)

That and the fact that they ultimately tried to tie everything together and form a nice conclusive package. That's pretty much never a good idea, and XF of all shows should know that some things are best left unexplained.

(Oh, how I shipped Mulder and Scully...)

I thought about getting the DVDs at one time, but I remember them being really pricey.

They're way too addicting. :D

Totally, hard core, from the very first episode ;-)
I got all of the DVD boxsets on sale, and S1-5 in Australia for like US$25 each, so that was doable. I would never have gotten them for the full price that they were first released at ;-)
Some of the MSR fic I have sitting on my HD is the best fic I've read to date, still. I mean, seriously, who can beat Paula Graves'/Anna Haynes' Twelve Degrees Of Seperation? Utterly brilliant season 2/3 Mulder and Scully! :-)

And yeah, at that point...I guess I should be happy that they were together, but Mulder and Scully being together when everything around them is shit and they're stuck in roach motels for the rest of their lives (like 10 years), it's not actually all that enjoyable.

Chris Carter wrote Space, therefore Chris Carter is not to be trusted. It is something we all must accept.
I like the early seasons mytharc, I love the cancerarc with Scully (Memento Mori kills me every single time), but overall, I enjoy rewatching (I have seasons 1-5 on DVD) the standalones more. Like Bad Blood and Eve, which will always be in my top episodes of all time.

Someone really needs to start a list of PTB not be trusted. :D

Bullworth, with Warren Beatty. It was supposedly a comedy, but ... eh, comedy's a chancy thing, and I'm pretty picky about it.

Come on! Dial-up bulletin boards were the best! ;)
