Yeah, I know this one's unlocked.
I was reading my last post, and it's super apparent that a big thing I'm flailing about is fandom reaction to the spoiler of Martha being in love with the Doctor but the Doctor not loving her back. Just because this will all be Rose's fault. And I'm barely in the fandom.
You know what? Screw it.
Doctor Who fandom is fucked up. It has been fucked up. It will always be fucked up.
People haaaaaaaate Rose and will *always* hate Rose until their dying day, no matter what happens with Martha. Some will never be happy with a single thing RTD does. And yet others do their best to make sure there remains a division between D/R shippers and old schoolers.
Screw it all!
I'm gonna continue to ship and watch old episodes and stay off in my own corner where many times I'll bear a striking resemblance to the crazy lady on the Simpsons that flings cats. I had a brief moment of freakout about fandom fallout, but I no longer care.

It taught me that I once had the ability to stay up all night, watching comments come in during a flame war. :D
Although I still say that DW fandom makes SG-1 fandom look like a tea party...

Brava on the breakthrough! It's really the only way to fly...

Oooooh. What'd they do??
Brava on the breakthrough! It's really the only way to fly...
The zen way, baby. Usually I'm rather zen when it comes to fandom, but DW often has me diving for the fallout shelter for some reason.

Gosh, where do I begin? The actor wars before the movie? The actor wars after the movie? The tacky craft items going for absurd amounts of money on eBay? The batshit girl who stalked Peter Karrie and then claimed he'd tried to seduce her and her mom was threatening to press charges for attempted statutory rape? (I think I've got that last one right. If it wasn't exactly that, it was something equally WTF.)
Phantom has 20 years of intense crazy that never quite receded, and then all got stirred up again by the movie. It's truly something to behold.
Although from what I've seen peripherally of HP, I think it probably trumps everything.

(And is it bad that I'm sitting here thinking, "there was a movie? huh.")
I have the feeling DW fandom has got some utter insanity in its history, but I'm not sure I want to know. *sticks fingers in ears*

Word. I will no doubt be incensed at later dates when fans hate on Rose and the series in general, but I'm going to sit in my corner and be happy that Rose is an awesome character and my OTP is totally canon. And besides that, I enjoy the series, so there.

And I have to tell myself, if S3 *does* get really weird, Rose is already gone and S1 and S2 rocked. :D

*chuckle* Well, certainly not according to the segment of fans who consider it a travesty of epic proportions. But I'm kinda impressed that it blew by you, considering it was hyped to the extent one would pretty much expect.
