Blink promo

I'm actually kinda looking forward to this. It looks creepy as hell, which includes the weird-ass video of the Doctor giving instructions to people not to blink, as well as the statues with their eyes covered.

So far there's been one episode a series that has pushed my "creeped out" button. The Empty Child (When phone rang and the Doctor opened the door, I nearly had a meltdown) and The Impossible Planet ("Don't turn around" - I still get freaked thinking of someone coming up behind me.) And Blink might be this episode for me this series.

Or it could be completely lame.

But it will be Doctor-lite. (Seriously. The reason for this in a 13-episode series is...?) However, being Doctor-lite, there is very little chance of having any of that nonstop angst of S3 making an appearance. You never know, though. But I really need an angst break. REALLY. I think I'm starting to get cynical. :(

Ah, you must bow to our strange English ways *wiggles fingers* There is a reason for the break... I'm just not sure of it. Maybe David had something to do?

Oh, and this was written by Steven Moffat (The Empty Child, etc.) so it will be awesome by default. Oh yes.

As long as it's not Love and Monsters, ech.

But Moffatt did pen Empty Child so I'm optimistic for some really good creep.

Actually, the eye statues reminded me of the scary confidence sentinel statues in Neverending Story. That movie messed me up.

I'd tend to agree on the "yay, Moffat!" chorus except that Moffat also penned Girl in the Fireplace, so WHO KNOWS?!

But it does look like it could be really creepy. And hopefully funny. I *really* need some funny in my Doctor Who. *sniffles*

*bows*

Oooh, didn't even realize it was written by him. That reduces the chance that it will be lame. Coooool. Now I'm looking forward to it even more.

Yeah, no kidding. I just really have no use for Love & Monsters. It was nice getting a bit of Jackie's story, but still.

Well, Blink probably won't have to relate to any other episodes this time, so we're probably safe. :D

Oh that's right! Doctor Who used to be funny. Didn't it?

Muha!

Oh that's right! Doctor Who used to be funny. Didn't it?

Maybe! Sometimes it's just so hard to get through all the bone-crushing angst to remember!

TELL me about it. Wah. (Rose, come back now! The Doctor needs you! You're a smart cookie, you can figure it out even if he can't!)

Re-watching "Alias Smith and Jones" tonight, and that one actually is quite funny. The Doctor is funny; I'd forgotten how much, what with him shaking the radiation into his shoe, and the human act he put on for the evil alien is absolutely hysterical. I think it may well be the most light-hearted episode this series.

HA! And Rose wanders back through a rift and tosses the Doctor a wrench. "All you had to do was reverse the polarity, you dipshit!" :D

Yeah, it was like the comic relief before the descent into hell.
