S4

Looks like they made some announcement that Martha will be popping back up in the latter part of S4 (Jack-like?), which sounds cool. Like I've said in past posts, I'm more interested in Martha now than when she was with the Doctor.

And I guess the new companion's going to be announced tomorrow or something. I've heard rumors of someone making an appearance for the Christmas special - but just for one episode - like Donna. But thinking about the new S4 companion...

I *know* that Doctor Who is all about change, blah blah blah. But can I just say that I'm extremely "MEH" about having to go through the whole "bigger on the inside," "T-A-R-D-I-S," "I'm a Time Lord, last of my kind," etc. etc. for the *third time* in four years? So much of S3 felt like repeating things already (not to mention actual repeated lines from S1 and S2 - WTF was that all about, Rusty?), and...here we go again, I guess. Whee? I think it's gonna be hard for me to keep my interest level up.

*crosses fingers for purse-wielding granny or Time Kitten but knows we're gonna get some attractive young female to pull in the male rating*

Yeah, I know what you mean. Since RTD has said before that he could write "introduction to the TARDIS" scenes all day long, I have a feeling we're stuck with some more of them. But I am hopeful that s4 won't be another retread . . . 'cause that would just be really really really stupid, rather than the moderately stupid we've seen up to this point.

Ha! Maybe the Doctor will pick up a companion between the Christmas special and the start of S4 and he/she/it will already be there, and thusly already have covered the whole hoopela.

Or, barring that, the Doctor could hand him/her/it a list of Key Facts:

-Yes, it is bigger on the inside. Try not to freak out.
-Alien. 900-years-old. Last of Time Lords. It's a thing.
-Don't bother with an unrequited crush. My one true love is in a parallel universe. I sometimes get emo about it. Just turn on Snow Patrol and ignore me.
-It's called psychic paper. Alien technology. You wouldn't understand.
-I get depressed at the words "Gallifrey," "Rose," and now "Master." Just... avoid them. And don't ask.

*sobs*

I have a feeling we're stuck with some more of them.

Of course, he's ditching Who at the end of S4, so he'll probably only get one more. Unless he has the Doctor go on a friending spree... Which could be damn amusing.

But I am hopeful that s4 won't be another retread . . . 'cause that would just be really really really stupid, rather than the moderately stupid we've seen up to this point.

No more cut-and-paste, please!

Mwah! It'll be like Mel, who just kinda appeared! :D

BWAH!!

I'd like to see someone accidentally bring up the word "Gallifrey" in a conversation.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, sure. You know! They could be talking about Gallifrey brand toilet paper! Or something. *nods*

Since RTD has said before that he could write "introduction to the TARDIS" scenes all day long,

Oh, MAN. That sucks. Someone please edit Rusty. Sheez.

But I am hopeful that s4 won't be another retread . . . 'cause that would just be really really really stupid, rather than the moderately stupid we've seen up to this point.

Oh, pretty please. Please let the new companion have no interest whatsoever in Ten (skinny guys aren't her type, please god), for them to just be buds, and for her to be willing to whack him upside the head when it needs doing. That'd be so nice.

hehe you sound exactly like me and Nick last night after watching the finale.

In fact it's almost eery how similar how conversation was to yours.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I think that while Martha's visiting Jack at Torchwood (apparently), she and he should come up with a book titled "Things The Doctor's Companion Should Absolutely Know." And then Martha calls the Doctor up on the pretext of her leaving something behind on the TARDIS, and she leaves the book somewhere the next companion can find it. It's so necessary, at this point.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I am so completely uninterested in any new companion right now, or in Martha coming back. I'm in it for Ten, period. If Martha isn't too annoying, and the new companion isn't too annoying, well, I'll put up with them. Otherwise, meh.

*crosses fingers for purse-wielding granny or Time Kitten but knows we're gonna get some attractive young female to pull in the male rating*

*snerk* Yeah, I wish we could have a cute guy to pull in the female rating. :-) Or both, even. A couple would be nice.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yes yes yes! They totally need to have a bitch session wherein they come up with this book. Of course, knowing Jack, this will also involve drinking and sex. Mwah.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, yeah, that's the way of Who, but I'm not sure if it's that I expect more originality out of stories now or what. But at this moment it's a MEH. We're gonna have to go through the whole Time War reveal again and everything. It's like Gridlock - round and round we go.

[identity profile] debs7.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
At this precise moment in time, I'm over Doctor Who! Not even Ten can keep me interested.

The finale sucked so much I'm gutted by it.

Time Kitten, man! It could hiss at things! And claw the hell out of that bloody Dalek that's running around! And it could nap on the Doctor's lap! Who can be emo when there's a kitten napping on your lap?

*snerk* Yeah, I wish we could have a cute guy to pull in the female rating. :-) Or both, even. A couple would be nice.

I'm thinking they probably figure that DT covers the female rating... :D

A couple could be a lot of fun. Sally and Larry! And with a couple, they could *still* have the Doctor go all emo to their heart's desire! "I used to hold hands once... *stares off into the distance*" "Um, you want us to go somewhere else?"

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
What, Jesus Tinkerbell Christ did not impress? ;)

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't think it sucked, but in comparison to the previous two finales, the quality was definitely way down. And it made much less of an impact on me. I ended the last two bawling my eyes out, whereas with this one my main reaction was "Huh. That was... interesting."

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
And if it's the Woe!Kitten, they can have angst battles. :-)

More never hurts, though!

I would *love* Sally and Larry, although I'm not sure Larry would pull in the female demographic very much. Heh.

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm...I know I'm easily amused, but I don't mind another introduction, another new companion, all that stuff. I've got booze and fanfic if I start to feel like bashing my head against a wall with the next season, though. Like if they start repeating exact lines again.

But if the Doctor makes a quick hop to New New Earth to take on the Cassini sisters and a kitten, I will be pleased. *nods*

Stoopid JB has to go and have his own show. BAH. I'd have gladly watched a whole series of the adventures of Ten and Jack. Plus, UNDYING COMPANION. Hello! The solution to the crushing loneliness?

Yeah, probably not too terribly many Larry icons coming from that...

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I do believe in Doctors! I do! I do!

(Okay, I know everyone else has probably said that, but I haven't, and I wanted to all day. Nyeh.)

I knooooow! And I just saw someone say they'd heard that the next companion actually WOULD be male, which probably sucks for JB. He'd probably have loved that slot if he wasn't busy in projects up to his eyeballs. Damnit.

Yup. Maybe after Jack trains someone who's actually competent to lead Torchwood (because no one there is now, even sometimes Jack), he can ditch them and run off with the Doctor. That'd be nice.

I may feel different after the distance of a year. Right now I'm thinking...ugh. Redundancy. But hey, there should be a repeated line drinking game. It'd be so simple. And everyone would be *plastered* by the end of episodes.

But if the Doctor makes a quick hop to New New Earth to take on the Cassini sisters and a kitten, I will be pleased. *nods*

YES!

Oh, that would be fab, wouldn't it? They'd all keep him in line very nicely. Heh.

A guy companion *could* be interesting. Until he develops a raging crush on the Doctor and Martha has to come in and slap him around...

That'd be very nice. In my mind, eventually the Doctor and Jack team up again and tool around for a couple hundred of years.
