Iconage

Hee hee hee. Must pass along the icon post of where I got the one I'm using. Garfield fic-writing/reading icons! Doctor Who, Torchwood ("Jack/Ianto/Doctor/Hand. Hmmm... *plots*"), Lost - as well as some non-fandom icons like "Yay! Good fic!" and "Naughty fangirl fancat." *snickers*

http://community.livejournal.com/indiexicons/20461.html

Of course, the icon I snagged was *exactly* me from July 2006 - October 2006. Motivation, baby! Mwah.

I'm trying to get my head back into fic, but S3's kinda...messed me up. Just because of the Doctor getting all dark and angsty. I've mentioned this before, but in my little fic world, the Doctor *didn't* get this dark and angsty, so I *should* be ignoring all this. But yet...

Now just thinking about Rose back with the Doctor... Every five minutes he's hugging her, and then the licking! And it's not even the sexual kind of licking! He's just HAPPY! Rose is happy too, but is not as thrilled with the licking as she's starting to get a rash.

Dear God. This is just not good and my brain is deeply, DEEPLY weird.

Thanks for that link. I just realized I lost all my icons (hundreds hoarded over the past year) in this computer crash. D'oh!

I think I just laughed way harder at this than I might have on a different day. Although that still would have been pretty hard. :-D

*reads ETA*

*sporfles*

Poor Rose. He's like a big puppy. Jumping all over her and licking. Heh. Sounds really cute. *g*

Icons: yay!!!

I am probably not alone in that I feel like a Doctor/Rose fic with gratuitous hugging and licking IS NOT A BAD THING AT ALL.

In fact, I think the world needs more of it!

"Um, Doctor? Have you noticed how my skin's gotten all red?"

"Why, yes, Rose--you're as red as a rose! Mmm, wonder if you taste like a rose . . . [lick] No, your taste bears no resemblance to the flower. Which is a good thing, because roses don't taste good. But you taste . . . [lick]"

"DOCTOR!"

"Wha?"

Clearly, this is a fic that needs to be written.

I just *had* to pass it along - they were all making me snicker. (And also it's a lazy way of bookmarking that post. Heh.)

Ten *totally* is a puppy. :D Happy = bouncy, licking, barking JOY! Sad = whimpering, moping, snarling WOE.

:D And you know it'd practically be this absent-minded licking where he wouldn't even really be aware he was doing it.

Doctor: And the temporal displacement of the relative dynamics in the wormhole creates a variant reaction in the cheese. *lick*

Cheese Shop Owner: Did..did you just lick her?

Doctor: What the hell are you talking about?

Rose: Yeah, just ignore that.

Nonono. Definitely not alone. Enough angst and woe! Bring on the hugging and licking!

Bwahahaha!!

A less dark-n-angsty Series 3? Clearly I need to see the posts of which you speak.

I found it completely believable that he'd be incredibly depressed; for all we know he spent the period between TRB and SaJ moping around the TARDIS. Or screaming and throwing things around the TARDIS. I almost think he/the show would've been better off if they'd let him actually just wallow in it for a while, versus just putting on a performance for Martha and the other people he encounters.

Correct me if I've missed something, but it does seem like a deliberate choice on the part of the writers to never have anyone ask the Doctor how he's doing. They always ask if he's okay or alright. That isn't the question of someone who wants to know the real answer - it's the question of someone who wants to be told 'yes.' And I'm not Martha-bashing: Rose did it too.

I dunno...he always seems so intent on his licking. He knows perfectly well that he's doing it. Just doesn't process that it's any weirder than looking or listening intently.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good point. :D It'd be more like...

Doctor: And the temporal displacement of the relative dynamics in the wormhole creates a variant reaction in the cheese. Oooh, it's rather like doing this... *licks Rose*

Cheese Shop Owner: The wormhole licked my cheese?

Doctor: YES! That's precisely it!
ext_5608: (laugh)

[identity profile] wiliqueen.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Yes! Absolutely!

I officially declare "The wormhole licked my cheese" to be the Random Catchphrase of Awesome for the week.

Oh oh oh! I definitely think how they did the Doctor in S3 made sense. I didn't necessarily enjoy it, but it was what it was.

But last year I wrote a good-sized reunion "fix-it" fic where the Doctor spent about a year with Martha, but he just wasn't as wrecked as in canon. He thought about Rose and wanted her back, but they were private moments that really didn't impact anything that went on around him. I wrote it all even before Torchwood aired.

And so now I'm working on a sequel to this fic where the Doctor didn't go down the canon highway to hell (like carrying out a sadistic punishment on people and so on). But now that the fic sequel will have them back together, I keep wanting to write him more, I don't know, like trying to recover from Rose-separation-PTSD, like he'd probably be in canon at this point. As opposed to a bit lighter in my fic.
