I stab at the new XF movie, because with Carter and Spotnitz writing it, you just know it's going to be awful. I'm still angry about the series finale.
I will be pleased and see it only IF it turns out to be a stand-alone like another article I saw said it would be. (Rumors? Lies? Fairytales?) I liked the myth-arc at *first* but it got old and extremely convoluted as time went on. I still can't believe they did a myth-arc plot for the first movie. I always loved the stand-alone eps way more. Probably why I bailed on the show around year 5/6.
I did watch the finale, and all I can remember about it is that Mulder and Scully are on the run...from something...undoubtedly having sex in cheap hotels as they run. And the world's going to end in 10 years. OR SOMETHING.
*whimpers* I want to believe. I want to believe. I've been wanting to believe for years now!
But I won't believe until there's an official script. And would somebody please get Darin Morgan back to write it??? Nobody does one-parters like he does. *fangirls Darin*
I gave up on the series when the aliens destroyed everyone at the airport (think it was at an airport). That should have been the end of the series, the aliens invade, and "the earth is doomed".
Oh, I kinda remember that. In some big hangar, right? Don't remember what it was all about though. And it's silly - that kind of a show *could* have lasted that long (well, as long as they got fresh stories and writers) - it can be quite CSI/Law & Order-ish with having new cases each week. But the conspiracy myth-arc took over and the show got crushed under the weight of it.
Oh, it was AWFUL. First, it was essentially a clip show. A CLIP SHOW! And all it revealed was that hey, the date for invasion was, in fact, set, and never mind that we told you that YEARS AGO. And oh, yeah, we totally destroyed Scully as a character, hope you don't mind!
I read somewhere that Dean Haglund (Langly from the Lone Gunmen) said that Carter had only ever planned out a five-year mytharc, and it was all supposed to end with the movie. But then they offered him lots of money to keep going, and from then on he pulled the plot right out of his behind. So you bailed at just the right time.
I don't know if I'm overly loyal or just stubborn, but I loved S7/9, not a fan of 8. I was actually gutted that it's a MotW movie, I love the mytharc, even when it is pure crack!
