Hmm. Suppose I should get going - car place opens at 8.
Niobe! Noooooooooooooooooo!! :(
This is what I was talking about earlier with every character having something you both love and hate about them. Niobe had her faults (hello, sleeping with her sister's husband, which isn't too great even if she thought Lucius was dead) but I still liked her. She was, in spite of her past, a good person. And even though Lucius was mad as hell at that moment, he LOVED her.
WAH!
:(
Oh right. And Caesar's killed on the Senate floor.
Wasn't sure where exactly the story arcs would fall, so wasn't exactly expecting that. Also, they tricked me in calling the episode "Kalends of February" instead of "Ides of March." :D
Backing up an episode, I was getting a bit sniffly when Lucius was watching Pullo in the arena, who was struggling on, taking everyone down in the name of the 13th. And then Lucius jumped into the arena! Yaaaaaaaaaaay! And then because of it, they become the symbol of brotherly love in Rome. Ha!
Speaking of Pullo, as much as I think it'd be sweet for he and Eirene to actually wind up together, would she seriously ever forget that he was the one who brutally killed her fiance?
Oh, and switching gears yet again, I really can't decide who I'm pulling for when it comes to the two noblewomen. At first Servilia had my sympathies since Atia is just a harpy (or whatever it was that Mark Antony called her - it was fitting.) But Servillia has shown herself to be equally as cold and ruthless. I know from my sketchy history that Octavian (Atia's son) becomes Augustus Caesar (succeeding Julius Caesar), so the next season should be interesting.

Pullo is the man. Period. I loved him all the way through, even with that brutal murder. He's very easy to feel sympathy for. Pullo & Vorenus are such an interesting dynamic that I am never bored with them.
Octavian really comes into his own. And he's just...well... you'll see. Heh.
I was always torn between Atia & Servillia too. I will say the scale does tip at a certain point in S2 though.
You are smart to have waited. That year between seasons was just pure agony.

I will have to say that seeing the ads after 16 months? I was so giddy I couldn't contain myself. Seriously. :D

Oh totally. Of course, he's going to have to live with that guilt now.

Nope, me either. I love how Pullo just kind of hangs out and does whatever Vorenus does - if Vorenus becomes a butcher, Pullo does too. :D
It's sort of Of Mice and Men-ish. Sort of.

Shhhhh.

Can't wait to see that played out.

I'm so glad I did now.

You know, I knew that was coming without spoilers, and it was still shocking. Not so much the fact of it as the brutality. You hear about him getting stabbed, but I at least didn't really think about what that meant.

This was one of the things that I knew that I wished I hadn't. It would've been so much more moving if I hadn't known it was coming. The other thing I knew about was what happened to Niobe, and I kind of wished I hadn't already read commentary on that before I watched it. :-)

Probably not, and I don't think she did. But I think she's also practical and understands that he's as good an option as any for her.
With Atia & Servilia -

Also agreed. :D

I still crack up whenever I see that icon.

YOUR ICON = ROCKIN'!!! I love it. May I have it?!

Actually, I think she made an animated icon like your Pullo one, too.

Oh, how fun! Yeah, I made mine when he went all rampage-y. *ahem* And then he went... and did... well... YOU KNOW. *WINKNUDGE the WINKNUDGEYNESS of Romepeeps* I felt all awesome. *hee*

And I found the post with the rest of her spoilery type animated icons. I don't want to tempt the unspoiled with a link, but if you look at her March 21st post, you'll find them. (she used to have her tags on the sidebar, but not anymore)

And those icons are FANTASTIC.

Yeah, she's got some great ones. I love the...pottery. Hee!

The makeup. OMG the makeup. *gigglefits enough that attorney wonders if he made mistakes in pleading*

Yeah, it was a bit shocking. I think because he was stabbed just *so* many times, over and over by this mob.

I am really glad I haven't spoiled myself, although I think I'd still enjoy it all. But Niobe was a complete surprise. *sniffs*

That's one thing that I'm finding very interesting - the social structure, especially when it came to the women. Arranged marriages everywhere, talk of "you're too old to be unmarried - it's unseemly" to a 14-year-old girl, and so on. Basically women were property, which I know has been in a lot of societies in human history, but I think this is the first show where it seems...real, for lack of a better word. It's neither romanticized or demonized - it just *is* without feeling the need to make a social statement along with the portrayal, and I'm finding it really interesting. (Hope that makes a bit of sense - basically I'm finding their whole society fascinating.)
With Atia & Servilia - ivydoor is right in that it's really difficult for awhile to choose which to root for, but then there's a tipping point in Season 2.
Heh heh. *waits*

1) Caesar as an epileptic. Nobody likes to think that the great man had any fault or weakness such as epilepsy, but it was so nice to see that little touch put in (even if it's still debated as to whether or not he actually had epilepsy)
2) There was no "Et tu, Brutus?" verbalized, as Brutus stabbed him. It was there - hanging heavily in the air - but unsaid by Caesar; which just goes to good writing, excellent directing, and brilliant acting.
So Love this show.

Oh, total agreement here. That whole scene was just wonderfully done. Horribly violent but compelling.

2) That is *perfectly* put - hanging heavily in the air! I was thinking it (as I'm sure many who watch it were/are as well) - you could see it in his eyes, but it was unsaid. That was *totally* a BRAVO!! moment.
