Since there've been loads of new people floating around recently, and even for people I've known for six years...
Comment and tell me: what is the one thing I should think of when I see your (user)name? Or, what is one thing I should know about you? It can be silly or serious, a one-liner or an essay; just tell me something about yourself!
And I've had a thought about the filters I use on LJ. If ever you want off a filter, just let me know. I won't be offended. Maybe you're not into DW anymore. Maybe you don't want to hear about it until Christmas. (Wouldn't mind if you want off now, but want back on later.) So, yeah. Just poke me so your flist stops getting spammed.

Heh. I did a nose count and I'm at about 125 people in the Crazy (meta) filter and pushing up to 100 in the Squee (D/R ship) filter. My super stringent qualifications to get in them? Crazy: Say you want on it. Squee: Like D/R and say you want on it. (Sometimes I'll automatically add people to them when I friend if it's super obvious, but not always. I don't want to presume.)

Oh, and as I told [livejournal.com profile] featherjean, when you see my username, please think of cornbread.

ETA: Since people are giving histories of their user names, my user name is actually a take off of Mystery Science Theater 3000. And now you know.

Since a lot of people are confused by my username: [livejournal.com profile] principia_coh originates from my first/main character on City of Heroes, Principia. I wanted just plain 'principia,' but it is unfortunately taken by some Russian-speaking person who isn't a paid account and doesn't seem to have posted since... ever. Slightly frustrating that it hasn't been wiped and made available yet, but there it is.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I hate when that happens. You think of the perfect user/community name, and it's taken by someone who created it two years ago and has never used it. Bah.

[identity profile] elismor.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
When I see your user name, I think of Penguins.

And then crazy people.

And then I start having flashbacks to the war.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, that's pretty much the same for me when I see your name. Although I have one additional step after the war, which is basically "PONY!! EEEEE!"

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
One is ostensibly able to sign up for notifications as to when something's been deleted and purged and hence become available - but there's nowhere to actually do so, that I can find. I've put it in as a question.

What I would like to think would happen with such requests is that the admins would ping the names being looked at, and maybe say 'Hey! Look! No-one's used this account ever! Maybe we should free it up for somebody!'

I think it was on your journal I made the claim I am 95% British Beef and 5% Mad cow disease. I stand by that!

(That I'm rubbish at latin goes without saying!)

Oh and sign me up for the crazy and the squee.

*goes off to find D/R icon*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Boy, that'd be nice. Surely they'd be able to tell the last time an account's been accessed as well. (In case someone's using it as a reading journal.)

[identity profile] fiona-conn.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I just think of Doctor/Rose... or Eggnogg Latte... when I see your name. *Grin*

I don't really have anything odd about mine because it's just my name. *Snicker* Though, before I was born, Mum was sure I was going to be a boy. Apparently, I kicked like a rugby player. She wanted to call me "Andrew".

Well, seeing as my username is a bunch of random syllables I strung together 'cause the one I usually have was taken by someone who posts about once a year....

So, you should probably think of Oregon, land of rain and pine trees.

That or Anne of Green Gables. Her personality and mine are pretty similar...

No one's perfect.

Prepare to be spammed!

[livejournal.com profile] doctoroseicons and [livejournal.com profile] dwicons for your icon needs!

You're a Scrabble hand!

'cause the one I usually have was taken by someone who posts about once a year....

BAH.

So, you should probably think of Oregon, land of rain and pine trees.

I shall! I was up in the Portland area last year and had never been before. Beautiful!

That or Anne of Green Gables. Her personality and mine are pretty similar...

Strangely enough, I've never thought of cornbread when I've seen your username pop up on my friends list. When I see [livejournal.com profile] mrv3000, I think "Hysterical funniness ahead!"

And for me . . . well, I can't think of anything interesting, so I'll share the story behind my username, which is over ten years old and, as far as I know, still unique on the intrawebs. When I got my first real email account, as a bright-eyed college freshman, I could change it from a boring string of numbers to a name, but I'd only get one chance to make said change. So, I thought long and hard. Because I was a huge X-Files fan at the time, but I wanted a username that wouldn't be dated or embarrassing. So I took two X-Files catchphrases, converted them to acronyms, and voila! [livejournal.com profile] dettiot was born. Which I pronounce det-EE-oat, in case you were wondering.

And if there was ever any doubt just how big a nerd I am, that question's now been answered. :-)

Now I'm sitting here trying to think of what the catchphrases are to match up with the letters. And failing.

They've certainly not commented, that's for sure.

Ooh, I wonder if Babelfish has Russian translation... checking...

"Why I always should hold hand on the pulse? What this is - the thirst of control? Faster I simply want to be included in its life by all one hundred percent. And this almost so, but only almost. Here it ventured to restore correspondence with its friend. To me it about this did not report. But why? Indeed he me told that they are simple friends, then why not to describe. Especially because 4 to it the direct question assigned, but he about it said nothing. Yes, 4 complete of bough, and read letter in its mail. Nothing there such not there was nothing, but why this hidden must be? Simply it shakes me. Why me this does catch? 4 so I want so that this would not touch me."

Erm, not really sure what the point is supposed to be, but it doesn't sound like someone saying 'Hey, I'm using this as a reading journal.' They certainly don't have friends or the like.

You're a Scrabble hand!

I'd never thought of it that way! *lol* I like that better, actually.

Not only is Portland beautiful (I live just outside, in Beaverton), but it also has the world's biggest bookstore. *thumbs up* Alright...

[grin] Deny Everything The Truth Is Out There.

I'm sure that's a load off your mind.

[livejournal.com profile] manticoran is not my first LJ. I had another one, but RL circumstances intervened, and I had to abandon it. I had to come up with a new, yet totally different, username fast. I thought of [livejournal.com profile] manticoran because I liked David Weber's "Honor Harrington" series, and the folks in that SF tale come from the Star Kingdom of Manticore. Also: manticore, although I dislike the picture there.

I probably drove through there! We were down in Wilsonville, but scooted around everywhere. One trip out to Tillamook for the cheese. And made an unplanned stop at the Tillamook State Park visitor's center which was brand new and NEAT.

And we made a pilgrimage to the book store. :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
AH HA!

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm, probably, if you went up or down highway 217. That one runs right through Beaverton, from I-5 (that's the one in Wilsonville) to Highway 26 (what most people take to the coast).

We were out at Tillamook just last Saturday. The cheese is great, but the ice cream is sooo good.

Of course. Powell's is like...Mecca for those who love bookstores.

[identity profile] aristaea.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
what is the one thing I should think of when I see your (user)name?

EMO FANGIRL.

When I see your username, I think "squee", because I'm mostly here for the crazy D/R-ness and I like to fangirl vicariously through other people.

I hate other people harshing my squee. I think it's more rewarding to laugh and be entertained than it is to be Serious and Meta in fandom, which is why I liked LOTTL. It made no sense and had the most bizarre messages, but it was hilarious and absurd, and therefore good.

Also, I stalk people lurk. Chronically. Talking to people scares me! So I just read quietly most of the time.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, now I'm just going to always think of you with a tail.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved their squeeky cheese - the unaged stuff. I also had some ice cream there. MMMMMM.

I think we spent like 3 - 4 hours in the bookstore. :D

[identity profile] joyfulfeather.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't imagine wanting off those filters. They keep me entertained at work! (Yes, including the picspams. At least they're work-safe pictures!)

As for me... Hm. Well, looking at my username one could think that "Jean" is my real name, and it's not. It's the American version (or a shortened version) of my middle name, Janina. Online, I think of myself as "feather." I like feathers, and I tend to take seeing them on the ground as a sign of something (what, exactly, depends on the feather and the state it's in). I might be a tad superstitious...

I'm also a hopeless shipper, but that's not uncommon around here. ;)
