Better late than never.
They have this thing in DCA called "Animation Academy" which is different from the last time I was there. Now they actually teach you to draw something.
I drew Pooh!
Inside PotC. I *wanted* the boat to stop at the dog and the jail scene, but no. So this is what I have a pic of.
Indiana Jones: Best themed ride anywhere. This is just part of the queue.
Karen and I have gone on the Buzz Lightyear ride every time she's been here. There's something therapeutic about shooting lasers at things.
EEEEE! I love the Halloween/Christmas layover for the Haunted Mansion.
Heh. The skull has a Santa hat.
Neato wreathes and different pictures in the hallway.
*sniff* Unless the car actually stops there sometime, I'll never get a pic of Zero.
The car was stopped here. The strange thing is that light under the table. You couldn't see it with the naked eye, but if you looked on my camera screen, you could. Probably some kind of infrared camera something or other for the ride. OR A REAL GHOST!!!
Moving, and so blurry. The graveyard area is covered in "snow."
It probably has to do with the amount of light in a ride, because this was also taken without a flash and the car was moving in the Monsters Inc. ride.
And this.
Okay, this was stopped. Heh.
MUPPETS! Fozzie talks to the penguins during pre-show on the monitors.
Love. This.
Awww. The giant pumpkins.
DCA might not have a lot there, but it makes for a pretty night shot.
We went on Sunday, the day the fires started. We had no idea there was anything going on, but the winds were *horrible.* You can see how much dust was being kicked up. I'm surprised they had their little tram/bus running. By the time we got off of it, Karen and I were covered in dirt. It was icky.
Seeing a bit more of the winds in the background.
Catnap.
So pretty.
Nom nom nom. I like their program with the elephants. During the show if the elephant doesn't want to do anything, it doesn't have to. It can just stand there if it feels like it. This one was having an "I'm going to stand here. Please feed me." day. *snickers*
I love the beautiful aviaries they have. The ones at the Zoo are even prettier.
Lotsa ducks.
Meerkat: Dudes. Uh, fire?
Humans: Awwwww! *takes pictures*
Meerkat: Hello? Oh, never mind.
Baby camel!!
Run away!! Yeah, normally you can see a mountain there, but since that's where the fire was...
Wee bit more than smog.
Charlie: I am the cutest dog in the world!!
Charlie: No, really!! Even when I destroy everything in my path by chewing it up!
Me: AAAH! You chewed up a perfectly good cup! *CAMERA FLASH*
Charlie: Ow. I'm still cute. HA.
This was just this past Saturday, driving back from lunch with the parents. You can't see it very well, but on the right, that whole area is burned. And the haze straight ahead isn't fog. *coughs*

If you don't mind, please can I borrow the "000 days to Christmas" clock photo to make an avatar? =)

And I love the Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. I almost want to go down to WDW around this time next year instead of our traditional April trip.

Also, I have been through the WDW Muppets so many times I could probably do the whole show from memory (including the pre-show) right now. I randomly start singing "By the light" "By the light, by the light" "Of the silverly moon" "Not the sun but the moon" sometimes....I'm not normal.
Were the animals all skittish and twitchy then? They usually pick up on those things before we do.

at the start I was 'Oh wow, I'd love to go there' and by the end I was meeping muchly!

I tried talking them into a wienerdog, but the beagle is pretty darn cute.

I don't know how WDW does it - I'm assuming very well - but the Christmas decorations at the park are amazing! It's a really fun time of year. Plus Small World being converted so that it's rideable...

Yeah, you can find most all the rides there now. Not that I've ever sat there and watched them. Noooooooo.

Not that I noticed, but maybe a trained eye could tell?

Thanks!

Now *that's* a travel promo for you!

He really is pretty cute, and he loves to nap on your lap.

He really is fairly adorable. When he's not being naughty.

You're talking about the dog, RIGHT?

A beagle, naughty? Never!
*struggles to keep a straight face, fails utterly*
You're talking about the dog, RIGHT?
What else would I be talking about, the lint trap in your dryer?
Giveaways? What now?
They're doing another Year of a Million Dreams (or whatever the heck they're calling it next year).
Let me dig up the link...

Tobie says "S'up!"
When I went to NYC a few weeks ago, they had a rhinestone studded Jack Skellington shirt for sale. It was some ridiculous three digit price ($185 or something) It was so cool but way out of my price range. I'd be afraid to wear it, let alone wash it.

Yikes! And I thought the Jack Skellington shirts at Dland were expensive at $30.

I want to trade places with you! I've never been to any Disney and I don't think it's fair. Besides I'm sure you wouldn't mind trading wild fires and winds for severe drought.

I looooove the Muppet Show show. So much fun. And I love all those signs, too. The Disney folks are so fabulous at decorating, both of the permanent and seasonal types.

I don't think it's ever been that bad here, even when the park gets to capacity. Although, I tend to get there when it opens when I know it's going to be bad so I never see the freeway. Went on Christmas Day once, but made sure to get there before it opened.

I've only ever made it to the MGM park in Florida, and that was only for half a day when I was passing through the area.
Several of those rides are ones I've never been on, and I want to go. I haven't been on Pirates of the Caribbean since they updated it with Captain Jack Sparrow, and I really want to see what they've added.
It's fun. It really looks like him too.
Also, is the Indiana Jones thing actually a ride? At WDW (the last I knew), it was a special effects show.
Yeah, it's actually a ride in California. Probably one of the most fun ones. It's part dark ride, part motion simulator that actually goes somewhere with massive special effects, real fire and so on. It's massively cool.

I know! Even the outside of the building has fun stuff like Gonzo's motorcycle crashing into the wall and so on. With the Muppets, everything's just slightly twisted. MWAH.

Right, me either. I've just heard things.... It's cool because WDW doesn't change their Haunted Mansion. Actually they just overhaulled theirs
which I've also heard is on YouTube and haven't watched. And yeah, it's fair to say that MuppetVision is my favorite attraction. I was raised on the Muppets and still love them. Can't help it.

Fortunately the Wild Animal Park suffered little damage. 600 acres of buffer zone got burned, and two animals died, but the main exhibits were fine and most of the animals were as well.
I may take my son there this Friday; he's got the day off from school and I'm going to take some of the 22 hours of comp time I racked up last week.

I heard the condor house got hit as well, but fortunately they'd evacuated them already. Hadn't heard about a couple animals dying. That's a shame. But it could have been soooo much worse.

I bet it'd be interesting to take their bus tram thing now - you could probably see just how close the fires actually got.
