I was looking at my Who list, trying to decide which classic ep to watch next, and it occurred to me that new fans might be interested in Five now. So I'll rec a Five episode if you're looking to just get a taste of Five.

Black Orchid
  • Blessedly shorter than your typical classic DW ep (most of which *should* have been this short.) Just 2 parts.

  • Not a mind-blowing plot or anything, or even a typical DW plot. It's sort of Agatha Christie meets Jane Eyre meets Beauty and the Beast meets...Doctor Who.

  • Highly amusing unrelated doppelganger. And this isn't even the first time DW has done this! MWAH.

  • The Doctor skulking around in a bathrobe.

  • Team TARDIS having fun! The Doctor kicks back for a little cricket, and the gang goes to a costume party! \o/

This is one of the classic episodes I still have on VHS. I always liked it.

Aww, neat! Boy, if I could go back in time, I'd be taping off PBS like mad...

This is like destiny. I got my hands on an Old Who audio book/play thingy and Five has a delicious voice so I decided that I needed to watch Ye Olde Who right now. And now I have direction!

Cool! You know, I've never specifically paid attention to his voice, but he *does* have a rather good one.

It's a lot more apparent when you're listening and not watching. It's quite incredible. I'd kill to hear Richard Armitage on an audiobook *swoons*

Now I just need to actually find it :P
