  • How bad would be if I said I really want to see the new National Treasure? Faux history and all. I'm not even a really big Nicholas Cage fan, but I thought the first one was all kinds of cheesycool fun.

  • I've decided I'm going to try to stay unspoiled for DW's Voyage of the Damned. TRY. I'll wait while you have a good laugh. All done? And to get into practice, I'm gonna stop reading any VotD posts from here on in. I've only watched the tiny seconds-long trailer, and I know there's a longer one out there. But I kinda don't even want to see that beforehand.

  • I suppose I need to go shopping. *hangs head in defeat* But I REALLY don't want to. ETA: HA! One present down from Amazon.

  • I also need to watch AoL/WWIII today.

  • It's noon already?

I liked the first National Treasure. It's a fun movie -- not deep, but more interesting than most action movies. For the record, I also liked the one with Nic and Sean Connery based around Alcatraz -- can't recall the name right now. I doubt I'll go see National Treasure 2 in the theater but I'll probably nab it from Netflix at some point.

I want to see National Treasure a lot I might even go see in the theater (Something I never do). And I hate Nicholas Cage. I've not watched a movie with a good premise because he was in it.

Good luck with not being spoiled *snicker*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a vague recollection of that Alcatraz movie. Very vague. :D

If I don't wind up seeing the new one in the theater, I'll definitely Netflix it.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking it'd be a fun one to go see next weekend.

And the Time Crash thing kind of taught me a lesson - if I want to enjoy it, I *really* need to not get others' impressions of it first. It messes with my head.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed the faux history in the first movie. I'll probably watch the second one too.

And I got spoiled for Voyage of the Damned and now know more than I wish I knew. Keep away from the spoilers and I think you'll enjoy it more...

Don't tell me! *RUNS INTO SPOILER CAVE*

I saw the trailer when I went to the cinema recently and I had a geekgasm. I loved the first one! :D:D

And the new short trailer released today on the DW advent calendar made me scowl. So you're probably best off staying away!

Just really a lot of fun!

And the new short trailer released today on the DW advent calendar made me scowl. So you're probably best off staying away!

I don't want to know! AT ALL!

[identity profile] makesometime.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to say anything! I want to, but promise not to! :D

(Though the producers clearly do not get fandom. AT ALL.)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Not gonna look. :D

(Although if it helps at all, I remember reading something recently where RTD said that he has absolutely no control over what the BBC promos. OH! I know what it was - he was irked that they'd promo-ed the hell out of the kiss between the Doctor and Martha in Smith & Jones, since to him it gave the wrong impression.)

[identity profile] makesometime.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh really? Then that totally makes sense in this situation!

[identity profile] honorh.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't liked Cage since Raising Arizona, but I saw the first National Treasure and thought it was a terrific popcorn movie. I'll probably see the second. I like me some cheesycool.

[identity profile] frenchroast.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm so not a Nicholas Cage fan...but I like National Treasure. It's just good, frivolous, faux-history family fun. I think another thing I really liked about it was it stirred feelings of patriotism--but for the right reasons, not just for the sake of being nationalist.

Also, I have a sort of mini-crush on the Riley character. Yep. I like dorky funny.

On my dad's side of the family, all the kids/cousins/aunts go and see a movie the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas, and we already decided that the one we're going to go see after Christmas will be National Treasure 2.

As for VotD, I am trying to stay unspoiled, too! It isn't easy!

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I liked National Treasure. It was a little bit like a modern day Indy, or a good version of Da Vinci Code, without all of that religious crap. And while it's definately faux-history, it's really fun.

Besides, we watch a show where Dickens met aliens and Shakespeare has magic witch-summoning lost plays. I wouldn't be too worried about faux-history, if I were you.

I will be going to see National Treasure 2 in the theatre, if only as a part of Movie Madness with the Fun Aunt & Uncle.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I dislike Nicholas Cage, and the only reason I went to see the first National Treasure is because I'm a big Sean Bean fan. However, the second movie does look fun.

[identity profile] okelay.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
yay, someone else who wants to be unspoiled! we should form a club
i love being unspoiled. even if it means not being able to check my flist or,you know, the internet.

i liked NT. its fun, kinda silly and i really enjoyed the faux history and conspiracies.
i'll probably dl the 2nd one.

funny how no one here seems to like Nic Cage. i don't like or dislike him. he's not really a factor on a movie. of NT, i like the other guy, riley and i think the girl looks a lot like Ainsley Hayes

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Raising Arizona!! I haven't watched that in ages! I totally need to again.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I like Riley too. He's definitely a dork, but he's also snarky at the right times. :D

And how fun to always go as a family! I might have to suggested that to my family as well.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, I'm not *too* worried about the history in it. Don't plan on writing any long essays about how a cypher is written on the back of the Declaration of Independence. But yeah, it is a bit like a modern Indy, and just a lot of fun.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't even see the first one in the theater - I thought it looked too lame. But when I finally watched it, it was really fun.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Spoilerphobes, unite!

For me with Nicholas Cage, I don't really care for him all that much because he plays just about every character he does exactly the same. Less acting and more reciting lines, to me. But he's decent enough at it so it doesn't irk me. (Unlike Kevin Costner who does.)

[identity profile] katesutton.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Helen Mirren is going to be Nicolas Cage's mom! I believe that's a good reason to go see NT2, even if I have a hard time buying that. And I would never look down on you for liking either, because two of my favorite brainless movies are the Mummy ones. Forget the Scorpion King, though.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes! The Mummy movies! I have both of those on DVD! Complete popcorn flicks but so much fun to watch!

OOOH! They're making a 3rd one! But they've got someone else to play Evelyn, which is sadness.

[identity profile] katesutton.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
SO WRONG. One of the things I love about them is Rick/Evie. Just say NO to recasting!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
That really *was* the best thing about the movies. And I even liked them better as a married couple.
