mrv3000: made by elismor (christmas cookies)

Pfffft.

I just discovered I have zero patience for dealing with gingerbread dough. I have one TARDIS, one sorta Dalek, and the rest are, uh... Toclafane balls. Yes. Because nothing says Christmas like frosting-covered death.

Because nothing says Christmas like frosting-covered death.

Of course. Just like nothing says Christmas like evil robot Santas or Christmas trees that kill.

[wonders if DW is trying to turn kids Jewish]

CONSPIRACY!!!

To be fair, Futurama had an evil robot Santa first. Perhaps it is a conspiracy.

Again... someone please tell me that the DW writers are Futurama fans! Please!

But it also had Kwanzaa-bot. And the Hanukkah zombie (voice by Mark Hamil!). It's equal opportunity holiday aversion!

I cracked up when I found out that was Mark Hamil. :D

Hahaaa.

I tried my hand at gingerbread cookies this year. I made on tree, gave up, and rolled the rest into balls. I thought they were pretty awful...but my friends were like "OMG THEY'RE SO GOOD". I think they were crazy. Or lying...

Balls for the win!!!

(*shifty eyes* DT's balls for the win!!!)Yes I did just go there.

Well, you know how to please your friends now! :D

Yep! Make them bad cookies!!

I really...don't think I'll ever be able to look at a cookie the same way again.

*shames self*

That was on the other night while I was (oddly enough) making small balls out of model magic for a project I've been working on!! Wooooaaaahhhh!!!!

BALLS EVERYWHERE!!!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
BWAH!!

Because nothing says Christmas like frosting-covered death.

Buha! I bet that's exactly what the Master did on Christmas day, too.

"OH, DO I HAVE A PRESENT FOR YOU, EARTHLINGS! TODAY WILL BE A DAY JUST LIKE ANY OTHER DAY, INCLUDING WIPING OUT ANOTHER TEN PERCENT OF YOUR POPULATION. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

You probably did the evil cackle just like that.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, of course! And the little dance!

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, the answer to anything involving the words "gingerbread" and "effort" (which should never, ever mix, in my opinion), is my grandmother's Crazy Gingerbread recipe. Basically, you dump all of the ingredients in a cake pan, bake and slice. And it's amaingly good and you can take your frosting tube and draw Daleks and TARDISes and Roses and Doctors to your geeky little heart's content.

It's the only thing I can bake without blowing up the oven. This says a lot about how easy it is. *nods*

[identity profile] burtonworshiper.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Is it like a cake? Or is it like gingerbread??

Either way it sounds amaaaazing. Yay for simple!!!

(also, icon love!)

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
It's like...gingerbread cake? It's, um, the consistency and thickness of cake, but completely the flavor of gingerbread. And there's a cake that's the same idea, but cake-flavored.

If you'd like the recipe, I can type it up for you.

(Yes, I loves me some geek!Ned, and PD ins general. <3)

[identity profile] burtonworshiper.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Could you? That'd be awesome!!

(THEY'RE. SO. CUTE. I just wish they could hug. Like...a daily allowance of hugging or something...)

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
I've put the recipe up on my LJ.

(Aren't they just? And, I agree. We need more things like bee suits and Olive's imagination and Ned's dreams (er, without the crazy endings to said dreams, preferrably...))

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooooh. Sounds great!

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Recipe's up on my LJ, if you're itnerested in it.

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously, you need to make a Dalek cookie cutter. Because reshaping metal is easier than reshaping cookie dough. Yes. *nods*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, there's a trip to the emergency room...

[identity profile] reve-silencieux.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I think the trick is to refrigerate the dough then try to cut and decorate it. Of course, I'm speaking off my memory from last year and I just wait for my mom to get it ready for me to decorate. Last week I did a gingerbread house kit with friends and ended up with icing all over my fingers and clothes. It didn't want to stick to the house! (this is why you use royal icing and a piping bag)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
I think I probably should stick with the kits or pre-made cookies to decorate. That's the part I don't have the patience for. The icing's kinda fun.

[identity profile] sherbertglasses.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I know! That's the worst dough to work with. Was it from scratch? It's next to impossible to mix up and it's so sticky, no matter how much flour you use.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
This was a refrigerated dough, but still. VERY sticky, and forget trying to move the thing to the pan without messing it up.
