Raaaaaaaaaain!

Friday! Yay! Giant storm headed our way! Well, at least it'll mostly hit on the weekend. You know...this weekend would probably be the perfect time to go to Disneyland. Sure half the rides would be down, but you'd have the place to yourself! Not that I will, as water will be falling from the sky and that tends to frighten and confuse me.

As seen by quite a few people on my flist: plagiarism of someone who's passed away. Not just fics, but LJ posts, user info... Wow. Just when you thought you'd seen it all.

I never understand plagiarism in fandom. There's not even an "I'll fail out of school if I don't copy some book!" type excuse. I guess it's to receive ill-gotten pettings? Man, you have got to be really hard up if you go that route. You know, fandom's probably one of the worst places in the world to try and find your self-esteem.

Wow. I have no idea what you're talking about with the current plagarism thing, but it sounds awful.

I never understand plagiarism in fandom. There's not even an "I'll fail out of school if I don't copy some book!" type excuse.

I am totally with you on this. Plagarism in fandom just pisses me off. Because, really, it's supposed to be so fun. Why would you WANT to write fic, or whatever, if you have to copy it? It makes absolutely ZERO sense.

I used to run a major fanfic posting site for an old fandom, and it's one of the things that finally drove me to quit and pass it on to someone else - I just couldn't take dealing with the plagarism issues that were starting to come up. It just made me so irrationally angry that people would do it...and the worst part? The people who do it just don't get it. I can't understnad why people can't grasp such a simple concept like, "Don't copy."

Okay...end rant. Thanks for pulling that one out of me today. lol.

Heh. Good luck with that rain thing. The other day we had frozen water falling from the sky. It's called snow and is like rain only slower so you have more time to contemplate your impending doooooom!

That plagiarism thing is creepy to the nth power. It's like the guy from Silence of the Lambs with the skin suit. Uber creepy.

You know, fandom's probably one of the worst places in the world to try and find your self-esteem.

If there were Fandom Commandments, this would be #1.

Ain't that the truth.

And the culprit has started locking down his journal.

Oh, yeah. This should be on the TOS for livejournal and everything. Just a LITTLE WARNING, okay? Many messes could be avoided. And that plagiarism thing..ugh. So, so wrong. What, since she's not around to protest, it's okay? Yuck.

Right! I just do not get it whatsoever.

UGH. Yeah, what's so hard to understand?

Okay...end rant. Thanks for pulling that one out of me today. lol.

HA!

Ew. EW!

It should be, shouldn't it?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It never works. Never never never.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I shouldn't be surprised, but I kinda am. Why he doesn't straight out abandon ship, I'll never know.

Not that I will, as water will be falling from the sky and that tends to frighten and confuse me.

You poor So. Cal. people. *pets* Well the Governator declare a statewide emergency before or after the populace descends into a panic because they don't know how to deal with that wet stuff falling from the sky? ;-)

I guess it's to receive ill-gotten pettings?

I guess he wants the attention, although it does seem he didn't want this kind of attention, because he's apparently locking things up. How he thought he could get away with this, I'll never know. People always find out eventually, one way or another.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Never say never ever. Bwah. I couldn't resist.

[identity profile] splash-the-cat.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
He'd obviously put a lot of work into this stunt. He'd even copied her COMMENTS, using them wholecloth or piecing them together to reply to comments on his journal (which, of course, were comments to her posts that he plagairized).

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah. This should be on the TOS for livejournal and everything. Just a LITTLE WARNING, okay? Many messes could be avoided.

It's really kinda scary how some people's ego/self-worth seems completely rooted in fandom. YIKES. And it becomes more about the fannish existence itself than about having fun with the show/movie/book that brought you there in the first place.

And that plagiarism thing..ugh. So, so wrong. What, since she's not around to protest, it's okay? Yuck.

Very much yuck.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Never, I say! :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That's completely *nuts*.

Ahnold will get us through! He'll hop in an F-18 and blow the rain clouds out of the sky! YES! Okay, panic-time might have already set in...

I guess he wants the attention, although it does seem he didn't want this kind of attention, because he's apparently locking things up. How he thought he could get away with this, I'll never know. People always find out eventually, one way or another.

Yeah, what is he, 10? People usually find out. Especially when it's someone as well-known as this original person.

Yep, he takes batshit insanity to a whole new (almost frightening) level.

It really baffles me too.

someone emailed a friend of mine the other day about a vid she made, told her she loved the song and the vid, and would she mind if she remade it.....'but it will probably have most clips the same'

Umm no.

BTW can you get into pogo? even the home page wont work for me. *neeeeed pogo*

[identity profile] cookie2697.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my God, that's just sick. I just don't even know what to say about that. You have to be a special kind of immoral bastard to pull something like that.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me about it.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's so hard to pretend that the world is logical when you see stuff like this.

I haven't tried today, but I was on it last night. I've fallen victim to a Quick Quack addiction.

Apparently we had three times the average amount of wet-stuff-falling-from-the-sky this December. *SOB* WHY???!!

You know, fandom's probably one of the worst places in the world to try and find your self-esteem.

This should be a bumper sticker.

Heh. Welcome to fandom. Here's your flame-retardant suit and your bumper sticker.

You crazy Californians and your reaction to water falling from the sky. I hav no idea why you all seem so eager to invade Oregon, despite the fact the we see far mroe rain than you.

Fandom plagerism is so very weird. *shakes head* What stupid things won't people do?

Oregon's pretty! Well, California is too, but Oregon has Tillamook's squeaky cheese. People are probably going for the cheese.

It boggles the mind, really.

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oregon's pretty!

After spending two weeks in the alternating brown and white of Colorado in the winter, I'm rather inclined to agree with you on that point. :)

...but Oregon has Tillamook's squeaky cheese. People are probably going for the cheese.

So even the Californian admits that happy cows really come from Oregon? Victory at last.

Californians are pretty hilarious once they get here, actually. They freak out at rain (they can't quite seem to figure out how to drive in the stuff). See, Oregonians have this thing about Californians on the roads. Everywhere else they're great people. It's just on the roads that we bitch about them.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)

Don't tell me they air those commercials outside of the state. That's a bit embarrassing.

Does not surprise me in the least - everyone around here forgets how to drive when there's moisture on the ground.

I've been seeing them here in Oregon for freakin' years. They are rather annoying. I saw them in Colorado and, I think, even New Orleans. Honestly, you have to go overseas to escape those happy, happy cows. It's okay though. I just shout something incoherable about Tillamook cheese and then skip the commercial. :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw that. Unbelievable. People usually can see through trying to cover up idiocy with bullshit.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
YEESH. I'm sorry you have to see the happy cows. They kinda drive me a bit bats considering I know what actual dairies look like.

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've seen most dairies, and I've seen Tillamook's dairy (like ,where they actually keep and milk the cows. If any cows are happy, it's Tillamook's. We lurves our cows here. Especially at Tillamook and Burgerville. ;)
