God help me, ever since "They Keep Killing Suzie" I've been mainly enjoying Torchwood. Like, I'm actually watching the stories and not just for the plot holes! Trust me, I wouldn't keep watching a show if I loathed it – I've got better things to do with my time. However, I still think the opening monologue they do every week blows, so that's gotta count for something.

Sleeper

I think this was the first episode where I found myself actually annoyed with Gwen. Look, you can be positive about a situation, but there's a point where you're simply placating, especially if you and everyone else knows the situation is *not* positive. Her words seemed really hollow, while Jack's seemed honest. I think I'd rather take honest.

And at the end, it never seemed to cross her mind that the team knew Beth was putting on an act. It was just easier for everyone to go through the motions – what Beth did was actually a very selfless act. It was for the sake of the people who she wanted to kill her, if you really think about it. I'm really glad Jack said something right after it happened to indicate that they weren't stupid about what was going on.

However, I am glad Gwen was there to show concern and sympathy to Beth, who really needed someone like that right then.

Boy, Ianto gets laid and he perks RIGHT up. :D

Side note - British actor bingo is just like playing Canadian actor bingo! Beth was in Robin Hood. Hee! And she did a good bit of acting, IMO.

Side side note – It's really fortunate that all these world-ending crisises always happen in Cardiff.

Seeing Jack walk down the hallway makes me really wish they would focus on Jack more. I know this is an ensemble show, but I really crave Jack POV stuff.

Hee, the opening monologue is sooooo cheesy! Makes me giggle everytime but I still like it. I love how in the first series it was: "You gotta be ready." and now it's: "Torchwood is ready." Shows just how much they've changed really. They're not shooting each other, left, right and centre! :)

I thought I was the only one who found Gwen irritating in Sleeper! As far as I know, everyone has been pretty disconcerted with Jack's behaviour but I think it was perfectly acceptable.

[nods] We really need more actors in this place. Really. I was watching the Shakespeare Re-Told version of Much Ado About Nothing today and it was like, ooh, there's Billie Piper, ooh there's Tom Ellis, there's Derek Riddell...there's Sarah Parish and so on! :P

Hee, I like Owen this series. As in, he's just a step behind Jack in the likeness factor. Which is saying something, he was such a scumbag in the first series. That whole Diane business...and then the Weevil baiting. But he's a nicer person this series and he hasn't changed that much - not as much as Ianto, that's for sure - 'let's all have sex' just shows it. I also like way they're slowly edging towards Tosh/Owen, they'd make a good pair.

It's actually...kind of..good? Really. I thought about it the other day-a guy at work was getting the Torchwood DVDs* and I was bashing on the show and then realized that the last part of season one wasn't THAT bad. And season two so far is good. Shocking.

*Also, his completely unsolicited opinion about season three of Doctor Who was that he liked Rose a whole lot better, because she had a personality.

Hey where did he say that? Someone on my flist was ranting about JB saying something about Chris E. Did you see anything about that?

Oh, 'he' is the guy at work. No one having anything to do with the show. Yeah, I saw that about JB and CE. It's not new, but I think it may be in JB's book so it's coming round again. I think JB needs to take lessons in tact, but I don't think he meant anything unkind by it. He and David are just cut from far more similar cloth than Chris and he.

I think people are reacting to this. Which by all accounts, is a little bit tweaked from his original comments.

I think Jack could have been a damn sight more sensitive, but I think I've come to expect that attitude from Torchwood!Jack. He does need a good kick for his bedside manner, especially considering Beth was trying to help, but in the end, he was the one being honest about the situation. Gwen just kept trying to sugar coat it.

I think that'd be interesting. I doubt I'll ever wind up shipping anyone on this show, but I think that relationship could be fascinating to watch.

Ah, nothing like skewed reporting when JB's comments say nothing of the kind. He says he thinks DT's much lighter and happier on set than CE, which...I think anyone could probably tell you that. DT = ball of fanboy joy. Getting on with one person =/= being glad not to have to deal with the other. PFFFT.

Yes, like you said, Torchwood Jack is so very different. But it's nice to see him lighten up a bit since Series 1, he was a right misery! :P

I think it's impossible to ship anyone on Torchwood! They have a different love interest every week. :) Especially Jack, he's a hard one. [snickers] That did not sound right! :)

Yeah, crappy reporting at work there. I don't doubt that DT and JB get along better offset than CE and JB did. There's really nothing wrong with that, although John Barrowman could stand to make use of that rare virtue, tact.

But yeah. They're gonna swap love interests so many times with every character. By the end of the series, Jack will probably be with Owen, Tosh and Rhys will be together and Ianto and Gwen will have hooked up. Why can't Myfanwy find love? WHY?

Actually, prepare to be shocked, I'm really not generally a shipper for the shows I watch. I enjoy watching relationships, but it's a bit more rare for me to jump on board that fandom ship train. However, once there, I usually stay for a while. *cough*Doctor/Rose*cough*

I love Ianto. And I have been waiting for that snog since forever ago when some people made moving snog icons. And I'm like, DAMMIT WHEN DO I GET MY KISS!? Hurray for Ianto and Jack and all-around adorable-ness in that episode!!!

Oh, me too. I don't ship at all - excluding the good ship Doctor/Rose, of course - and haven't ever shipped before. It's also very weird for me to actually love a show and everything in it - including the spin-off's, well, excluding Sarah Jane Adventures - so wholeheartedly. Yay for Doctor/Rose shippers! Yeah, except after she left, he was even more of an ass than usual. Insulting Gwen, insusting upon opening the rift. Didn't he shoot somebody too? Anyways.

I agree with Anne. We put a line about that in our song too. "Though he claimed to fall in love / Owen's always just a jerk."

After watching him be all, "I just don't want you to get hurt" and being all sweet and stuff, we were like, *sniff* "Maybe we need to change that verse."

Pod person. Owen's now a pod person. It's the only explanation.

They have somehow very nearly almost made Owen likable. There has to be some kind of award for that kind of cinematic accomplishment.

"To the last man" was the best kind of episode, because Jack flashed those pearly whites a ridiculous amount, and was all manly and leader-y and stuff while still letting others have the spotlight and the lighting was clearly designed to bring attention to his baby blues.
So it's pretty much "wait a minute, how are these even the same people?" *Jack smiles* "Ooooohhhhh, preeeeeety..... but, that random plot device makes no sense" *Jack smiles* "preeeeeeetttyyyyyyyy....."

Yes! Jack's the kitten equivalent from Doctor Who! Although he didn't completely work in LotTL. They really needed the combined power of Jack and kittens for that one.
