This has been all over my flist, and decided what the hell.

Series and Spinoffs

1. When did you start watching?
    July 2005.

1a. Why?
Because I kept seeing a Cassandra icon (the bitchy trampoline) on my flist. I think it might have been [livejournal.com profile] suzvoy's. It was such a weird image, that I had to check it out.

2. What was your first episode?
    Rose.

3. Which episodes have you seen?
3a. Favourite?
*TWITCHES* I love so many! Um...okay. For New Who I'm gonna say "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances." For Classic, I love "Black Orchid." (Yeah, it's not groundbreaking or anything, but Team!TARDIS at a party! Having fun! The Doctor playing sports! *LOVES*)

4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?
I tried to get a friend of mine to watch (showed her TEC/TDD) but she was less than impressed. My brother was into it for a while, but he got married and for some reason got distracted. PFFFT.

5. Which Doctor is your favourite?
*narrows eyes* Um...it's either going to be Nine or Ten. And every time I think I might like one better, the other taps me on the shoulder with an, "excuse me, what about the time I [fill in awesome Doctor moment]." I've given up.

6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?
HA. Oooh. This is hard because I don't loathe any of them. Even Six. *pets the PMS-y Doctor* I think I'm going to have to go with One, just because he's the least "Doctorish" in my mind. Most the time he's simply "Cranky Old Man Who Naps All the Damn Time" and it's more rare seeing him being really smart or really anything other than the TARDIS driver. Of course, I haven't seen all the One eps yet. And like I said above, I don't loathe him by any means. I'm kind of fond of the old coot.

7. Which TV companion is your favourite?
    Hmmmmmmmm. Let's see... Rose, thanks!

8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?
Peri. There's not even a close second to her. GAH! *wanders off muttering*

9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios?
I've only heard one, but it was *really* good - Chimes of Midnight. I reeeeally hope that someday they'd be able to do some Nine and Rose audio adventures. Well, and Ten too.

9a. If so, which is your favourite?
Well, since I've only listened to one... :D REALLY good, though.

9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite?
Charlie!! Okay, I only know one, but I luuurved Charlie.

10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios?
    Nope.

11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?
Yup. I've read all the Rose novels.

11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?
    o_O

11b. Which is your favourite?
The Feast of the Drowned. It's not the "shippiest" novel, but I loved the characterizations and action and so on. (If you've only ever listened to the audio on this, you are MISSING OUT. Some great character stuff was axed from it, including stuff involving Mickey and his past girlfriend, and even Jackie slapping Ten. How could they cut that??)

12. Have you read any of the comics?
I've seen a scan of one. It was cute.

13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)?
Torchwood. I tried the first episode of SJA, and it was cute, but I never felt the burning desire to watch more.

13a. Which is your favourite?
*Can* you call Torchwood a favorite? :D Okay seriously though, I think I'm going into Torchwood withdrawal at the moment. WTF?

14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read?
I really wish they'd animate more of the lost Classic episodes. Does that count?

Fandom

1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?
    Yup.

1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!
After allowing himself a moment over the whole "junk" thing, the Doctor found Rose quickly enough through that special bond they shared. All right, it took a half an hour. And okay, it was probably due to yelling "ROOOOOOOSE!" over and over, but that was bond-y. Sort of.

2. Do you create Doctor Who icons?
I've made a few. It's not a burning passion though.

2a. Let's see a sample!

3. Recommend a fanfic/icon/fanvid/fancomic/fancreation!
    Uh...

4. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions?
    Nope.

5. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character?
    Nope.

6. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise?
Aside from novels, no. I still want a plushie Dalek though.

7. Are you a fan of Russell T Davies?
I am, in spite of the crack. (Besides, what fun would it be to not be able to shake my fist at Jack!Boe?) (Hmm. Haven't we kind of wandered back out of the "Fandom" category now?)

7a. Steven Moffat?
I am, in spite of an issue or three with TGitF.

7b. Paul Cornell?
I am...hold on. Is he the one that made the Doctor do very bad things in S3? *CURLS INTO A BALL*

8. What say you to Season 6b?
    Hello, Season 6b! (Huh?)

9. The UNIT dating controversy?
    o_O

10. The Blinovitch Limitation effect?
I finally caved and looked one of these up. Okey dokey. Looks like they kept half of this theory for Father's Day and chucked the other half.

11. Multi-Doctor episodes?
    Love them lots and lots!!

12. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble?
Pretty much anything that DT rattles off. He can technobabble like no one's business.

13. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors?
Not really. I tried watching Casanova, but got weirded out.

14. Have you met any of the actors?
    Nope.

14a. Travelled to any filming locations?
No, because [livejournal.com profile] elismor needed a horse. (I'm not knocking Quincy if you read this, Elis!) I someday dream of being able to stand in an empty field with Elis, happily talking about the fact that the TARDIS once stood there, all the while pissing [livejournal.com profile] poohmusings off.

15. What do you think of The Curse of Fatal Death?
    HA!!!

16. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?
Fandom at large or among D/R shippers? Fandom at large - the Doctor's in love with Rose. Completely in love. D/R shippers - I don't think the Doctor and Rose had sex before she left. *dodges tomatoes*

17. What's your favourite pairing?
    HEH. I WONDER.

18. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole?
Hmm. I mean, a lot of them I'm not interested in and I just ignore them, so in that way I guess there are loads of pairings I wouldn't touch with a really long pole. Probably the only pairing that would *really* squick me out would be Pete/Rose because that's just fucked up.

*Can* you call Torchwood a favorite? :D Okay seriously though, I think I'm going into Torchwood withdrawal at the moment. WTF?
It happened to me. I accepted it and refused to think deeply about it. It's working so far.

I sort of want to do this meme...except half my answers would be "Er...what?" and I am not sure that's interesting.

[identity profile] fauxkaren.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
D/R shippers - I don't think the Doctor and Rose had sex before she left.

Haha. I'll join you in that unpopular opinion. :D I think that they both loved each other, but they were too scared to move their relationship to any sort of explicit romantic level.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I've decided to tell myself that I'm simply craving scripted television, and this in no way means anything else.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
But it could be amusing. :D

[identity profile] a-white-rain.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I just realize I need more Doctor Who and this is close enough.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they were headed in that direction, but considering how long the whole process between them took - I just don't think it happened. (Depending on my mood, I can sometimes be swayed into a *maybe* right at the end, but most the time I don't think so.)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, yes! Good answer.

[identity profile] a-white-rain.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
*recklessly relates half of each episode to Rose*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAH!!!

At first I was going to comment with, "not the Cyberwoman one, though, right?" And then realized that the Cyberwoman ep probably relates the most to Rose. DAMMIT.

[identity profile] a-white-rain.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I pretend that Jack was thinking about the Doctor and Rose the entire time and it makes me hate the episode slightly less.

[identity profile] sirarie.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
D/R shippers - I don't think the Doctor and Rose had sex before she left.
I am totally with you on that. :D I think that they loved each other completely and unreservedly (and still do, in spite of, y'know, being trapped in different universes), but the idea that they were shagging like bunnies whenever the camera went off them never made sense to me, emotionally. -shrug- The Doctor always seemed much too... nervous? reserved? shy? one of those, I guess- about his feelings towards Rose for that. If Doomsday hadn't happened (or happened when it did), I think they would have gotten at that point eventually.

[identity profile] sirarie.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
also (posted too early. -facepalm-)-
Probably the only pairing that would *really* squick me out would be Pete/Rose
People ship them? Seriously? O_o Well, that's a bit... um, yeah. Huh. Rule 34 of the internet was invoked, perhaps?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)

*nods* This is my whole take on it. I think throughout S2 the Doctor had uncertainties. He was getting there, but slowly. Doomsday, TRB + S3 all showed me that he was really in love with her, but I just don't think they'd gotten there yet.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen it, but I've learned that people will ship ANYTHING. It's probably out there. :D

[identity profile] reve-silencieux.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
*Can* you call Torchwood a favorite? :D Okay seriously though, I think I'm going into Torchwood withdrawal at the moment. WTF?

I felt the same way last season. Only half of them were good, but I had to record ALL of them to dvd no matter what. I waited anxiously for BBCAmerica to put it up on their OnDemand schedule, and finally got it last week.

But what I find funny? Read this in an article today about the US Networks turning to the Brits.

So can an Americanized version of "Torchwood" be far behind? The quirky sci-fi hit, now in its second season on BBC America (Saturday, 9 p.m. EST), is the work of Welsh writer Russell T. Davies, whose "Queer as Folk" transposed successfully to Showtime.

It's a spinoff! With an American (sorta) lead! Why oh why do they have to Americanize everything?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
OMG. An American Torchwood? But...BUT...!!!!

[identity profile] reve-silencieux.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
It is wrong, isn't it? Especially without John Barrowman. And really, I just love all the British aspects of it.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
U.S. audiences in general would not be ready for such crack.

I just had a horrible thought of them recasting the part of Captain Jack. THAT IS JUST WRONG.

[identity profile] sirarie.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 03:35 am (UTC)(link)

Oh, yeah. S3 was definitely the clinch on the ship for me- mostly because to my eyes, if he hadn't loved her as much as he did, I don't think TPTB would've portrayed him as being as quite as shattered as he was.

[identity profile] marble-rose.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think the Doctor and Rose had sex before she left.

I don't, either. I don't think they were quite there, yet. Though, I wouldn't have too much trouble believing it if the show decides to tell me they did.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, for me as well. If the Doctor -- in the middle of getting drunk with Donna (you KNOW that's gonna happen sooner or later) -- admits they were shagging like bunnies since whatever episode, I'd buy it. But unless there's some indication in canon, I'm going to think not.

[identity profile] crimsonkitty88.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Recasting Captain Jack? *twitch twitch*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
No thank you!
