  • My secret addiction in the last couple of days is reading Twilight posts. I've not actually read the books, but it's been entertaining watching another fandom for once - one I'm not involved in. Also, [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda did a review that cracked. me. up. ("FURSPLOSION!" is my new favorite word. In caps.)

  • Am writing DW fic but 1) am annoyed at my continued inability to come up with an actual off-world plot/story, and 2) have seem to become obsessed with the Doctor and Rose's sleeping habits (as in actual sleeping), which is not plotty in any way. (Dammit.) Although I went so far as to try and relate one sleeping instance to a plot that doesn't exist. (Ah, the fun of writing out of order. "This will fit somewhere eventually!")

  • Last night's Middleman was SO much fun! "The Egon Spengler Grant?" BWAH! Also, the fight between the Middleman and Wendy was hysterical. It was DW's New Earth 3rd-party body-swap, but instead of proceeding to flirt with each other, they beat the crap out of each other. TOO FUNNY. I'd watch this episode again just for that. :D Wendy and Travis (Trevor? Trent?) was cute (and didn't bug the crap out of me), but I have the feeling I'll pretty well be ignoring any romantic sub-plots on this show.

  • ETA: OH! I saw that they're putting out a new Doctor and Rose comic book/collection? "The Bride of Sontar" or something? Is this actual new material or have they gathered up past D & R comics and are releasing it all in one book? (Still might get it though, even if it's the latter. Especially if it's the former.)

Twilight does amuse me, I must admit, despite only knowing what happens in the books thanks to wikipedia! XD

And while I have plots and ideas, my writing, after finishing the fic o' doom, is suddenly just not happening! XD

I now know more thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda who did a chapter-by-chapter review. HEH. It was break out the popcorn time. :D

I don't blame you for needing a break! Your brain is probably rebelling!

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen a few mocking reviews that tell me all I need to know. Although I do have a pdf of the first book somewhere, but I can't face it! XD

And I'm still able to write happy-fic, so I think the brain is rebelling against doing difficult stuff!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! Need more Happy Universe fic!! Donna gets a pet, perhaps? :D

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Donna gets a pet, perhaps? :D

*Stares at you*

Either you're reading my mind, or the "need a type of monkey" post last night and I'm very predictable.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Donna gets a monkey?? BWAH!! Oh Lord. The cleaning they're going to have to do in the TARDIS. :D

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Not quite a monkey. An alien that looks a bit like one. Or possibly a sloth, I am still undecided. But it is monkey-like in behaviour.

I am now slightly concerned that you were in fact reading my mind! XD

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure The Betrothal of Sontar is just reprints. Checking now... yes, it's reprints.

NIBBLER!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nibbler_(Futurama))

*zaps*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, shame. I still might get it even though I think I've seen most all of them already.

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. I have actually not seen enough Futurama to be aware of him! XD

[identity profile] splash-the-cat.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
The Wendy/not!MM girl fight was the awesomest thing ever.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It totally was! Seriously - I'd watch again just for that. :D

[identity profile] bittybye2000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Please stay away from Twilight. If you like good writing and don't want a headache from rolling your eyes at the cheesy dialogue, and over the top romance, stay away from these books.

I got sucked into them and I can blame Doctor Who, when the insanity from Rose's return and all the hype I needed something to keep me sane. Of course I choose badly. For some inexplicable reason I'm compelled to read them...then mock them. I fear for my sanity.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
*snickers*

Have no fear - I really have no interest in reading them myself. (Vampire stories really aren't my thing no matter who's telling it.) I'm just addicted to reactions - good, bad and everything in between. I sorta did the same when the last Harry Potter book came out, even though I didn't read it.

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it puts them all in one place!

[identity profile] nicachick007.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG DOCTOR ROSE COMIC BOOK!?!?! WHEREWHEREWHEREWHERE

WANTS! *FRANTIC GRABBY HANDS*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is why I think I might go ahead and get it anyway.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Just a collection of all the Ten and Rose comics they've done in the past, but in a nice book.

Wish it was new stuff though. *sighs*

I actually did read the four books of the Twilight series (i mentioned in my own blog what I went through to read the last before it even came out this weekend) and it's become one of my favorite things to, to lurk in another fandom. It's funny as hell the way they brandish claws at each other. All I know is that I liked the books. The End. :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, have to admit the drama is really entertaining. :D

[identity profile] olga-keepout.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
So this means it's the Storybook adventures + the DWM adventures, combined together? I've been thinking about purchasing the Storybook, maybe I should get just this one that has more stuff in it, then. :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not exactly sure what it all includes really. I guess...yes? Anyway, I'll probably have to get it just to complete my Doctor and Rose media.

Sands of Zanzibar!

[identity profile] whiteroselover.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Wendy and Travis (Trevor? Trent?) was cute

Tyler.

And I love this show's silly sensibility! The girl fight, particular the slappy slappy slappy right after MM instructs Wendy (via Lewis the small medium) to use "The Triple Terror" was pretty much fall down laughing funny...

TYLER!

And the fight was the best thing yet on this show. :D

I really want The Betrothal of Sontar; I can resist D/R goodness especially since I've never read any of the comics. Any idea where I could get it in the US when it comes out? Comic book store? *grabby hands*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I think a good way to go would be Who North America (http://www.whona.com/). That's where I'll be looking! They'll probably have it in stock before Amazon gets around to it.

And I've no idea if a physical comic store would get it in. Probably?

[identity profile] marchsky.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, great. Thanks for the tip! =)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
No prob!
