So there was this small scene from a fic I was working on. The fic never got written, however I'd spammed my Doctor/Rose filter with the scene. I even picspammed it a second time. While it's never been posted in public, plenty of people have already seen it.

I just realized it would be a fun little thing to throw in the current fic I'm working on - one that would be posted as actual fic.

As long as it's just a little vignette in a longer fic, I don't see what the problem would be. :)

It probably would even become part of a longer scene...within a bigger fic.

Pfft, recycle, recycle, recycle.

Just do it with more class than Moffat does (such a difficult task...) and you'll officially be writing better than the show runner (again, truly difficult)! ;-)

But seriously, I wouldn't worry about it - if it fits then go with it!

But normally I canabalize fics all the time - the ones I never finish, that is. It's just in this case this scene has been seen not once but twice by people already.

Poor little orphaned scene. It needs a home.

I was once told by a writing prof that there's nothing wrong with cannibalizing your own fic ideas. That's been one of my writing mantras since. :)

And now I'm picturing some sort of Mr. Burns-esque recoil on the squirt gun... :D

How is that any different from showing snippets of a WiP to friends? You're not recycling it. It just didn't have a home until now.

Hey, I've recycled my own entire PLOTS from one fandom to another. (In my defence, it worked much better with the second set of characters which is why I did it!)

So recycle away. :D

I voted, but also wanted to ask ... whenever I see links to your journal on SPDN, the posts are always forbidden to me which is weird since we're mutual friends. The latest one was the mirror-body-language thingie which sounds awesome.

AH! I've got a couple of DW-related filters. I don't automatically put people on them when I get friended - usually it involves snapping fingers in front of my face with a "hellooooooo! I'm here for Who!" :D
