(no subject)

Couple of more West Wing things I just thought of:
  1. Did they ever say what happened with Sam's race? I swear I don't remember them ever mentioning what happened. One episode they all went out to Orange County and then...don't remember hearing anything again.

  2. Josh is "the diplomatic equivalent of a three-star general?" Huh.

Also, apparently LJ is going to be down tomorrow for a while. I suppose that means some sort of InsaneJournal party or something... :D

ETA: Or a JournalFen party. Forgot I had something over there too.

1. It is strongly implied, though never outright stated, that Sam lost quite badly, as was expected. When he's seen again at the end of the series, it's clear he's not been working in Congress, but is instead working at a very high-powered and well-paying law firm.

Or Meebo.

LJ IS GOING TO BE DOWN?

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?

If I frantically email you, it'll be because I'm rocking backwards and forwards under the table.

(Maybe I should just get an InsaneJournal... XD)

Ah. I had a very vague notion of that's what happened. But it's so strange it completely dropped off the show after being the subject of several episodes.

Or Meebo.

Not for me on my work computer. :D

QUICK! GET IN THAT POSTING! :D

They're estimating 4 hours, but I know how that goes.

Nibbles and booze!

Yeah, they never outright say what happened to Sam's race, maybe because TPTB figured viewers would infer from all the "No Democrat has won Orange County for years" talk that Sam lost. I personally believe TPTB just forgot about Sam and tidying up that storyline. :P But when we do see Sam again in S6, he's been a lawyer in LA and is happy and engaged.

Josh is "the diplomatic equivalent of a three-star general?" Huh.

Yeah, that's just ... silliness. And another example of why the show declined in my view after S3.

I really need to work out what the hell 8am PST means in UK time... XD

Also, adding the news comm to my f'list might be a good idea!

The only reference I ever remember to what happened to Sam was Toby making a passing remark to him having lost. And then whatever happened in the final season. But there certainly wasn't the focus on it that had obviously been intended by Aaron Sorkin before he, and Rob Lowe, left the show.

That's sorta too bad he went back to the private sector. They set up his character to be a promising politician. And why wouldn't he just come back to the White House? I'm pretty sure they'd have given him his job back. (Aside from the fact that the actor left the show.)

It sounded dramatic though! :D

I think...4 p.m. your time?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That's too bad. You'd think they could have at least talked about it a bit, even if Rob Lowe was out of the picture.

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I think so. That might actually not kill me or make me twitchy, since I'm going to London tomorrow evening to be brainwashed by a cult as a favour to a friend.

(This is normal, isn't it?)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally.

[identity profile] roseredathena.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, unlike Doctor Who they were very much 'out of sight, out of mind' people. For instance, what happened to Mandy and the blonde lawyer lady?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Mandy...poof!

Ansley - at least they mentioned the fact that her job was being filled when Mathew Perry guest starred, even if they didn't say what she was doing now.

I thought Josh was the equivalent of a five star general. Hm. I haven't actually watched S5-7 since they've aired though...I like my little world of Sorkin magic. But...it makes sense. If this happened when he was Chief of Staff (to be)...and I also can't quite remember...CoS is the second or third most powerful job in the country.

No, this was way before he started working for Santos, so very much in his old position.
